Cheap ABS Plastic Front Lip
I'm looking for some cheap alternatives out there. ....and no, the yard stuff does not work. Also, I'm too cheap to justify SPM splitter.

Front lips provide no downforce... might look good but no downforce.
A splitter will. SPMS splitters have been race proven and do work.
you can take the cheap way out... and buy a lip.
Or buy a splitter and get some results.
Up to you!

I agree with you 100% and if I were to buy a splitter already built, kiwi's would be it. However, I'm leaning towards building my own for hopefully far less money. Not valuing my time of course. ...and to be perfectly honest, I would feel less guilty when I either break it on the trailer or going off on track.
Similiarly a front lip can limit the amount of air going under the car, which is a good thing.

Works pretty well, inexpensive. Install with http://www.stockcarproducts.com/acc18a.htm
3/16" Aluminum Body Rivets - Steel Mandrel rivets, and the 18203 Back Up Washers for Pop Rivets.
Or use any other sort of big-head rivet and a backup washer. That will add a lot of strength to the mounting if you decide to rivet it to the bumper cover. A few L-brackets here and there, rivet a 1/8" x 2" x 3' or so aluminum flat to the back of the airdam to stiffen it up. You will want a heavy-duty rivet gun, or air-riveter of some sort for those rivets. They do a good job but a plain hand riveter will not be effective unless you have Terminator hands.
