question about ebrake cable on disk swap
i have 2 92 hatches. and i'm swapping the disks from the parts car to my race car so my question is do i need to swap the ebrake cables as well or will i be alright with the drum ebrake cable? Sorry for not searching i'm on my phoen
Nope, you have to use the ebrake cable from the disc brakes on the parts car. The whole assembly is significantly different but what is most important is that the physical cable has different ends on it and is likely to be slightly different in length. Also, you may need some other parts from the ebrake system but I am drawing a blank right now....
Usually, the ebrake on a drum rear assembly actuates both rear drums whereas the ebrake on a disc brake system only activates one disc. I think on the Civic disc systems the only brake activated is the driver's side. Someone correct me if I am wrong here. But keep that in mind when you remove the ebrake hardware from the old to the new. You may have to pull cables from both sides of the vehicle to get rid of the old drum hardware.
