Default Painting sideskirts/process help please!

Alrite, fellas.
Got myself some automotive spray paint cans, dont ask why i got it, seemed cheaper for a newbie diy, patch maint seem very reasonable though.

Painted my grille and trunk lip, and it came out a few shades darker, was this due to clearcoat?

Also i'm going to paint my sideskirt as well, and i dont want to make the same mistake so i need some confirmation/advice.

Is it safe if I clean, sand, primer then, paint without clearcoat?(to see what it looks like after it dries up and stuff)

then later on if i know the paint is really that much off, could I just clearcoat it later on, is it possible to do that? (Later on would be in a week or so.)
Help please, thanks

yeah thats fine. you need to use plastic adheasion promoter to keep the paint from coming off though. the paint may have turned out different because it isn't a perfect match. your stock color usually is faded. also, not all factory colors are the same. there are many variables that change factory paint even though its supposed to be the same paint code.

since clearcoat made it darker, and it seems that if i don't clearcoat it it'd be my car color. wouldn't hurt to try?

there are numerous of people who rattle can there whole car and it comes out clean...the thread was title "$50 paint job" or something...this one:

https://honda-tech.com/forums/paint-body-84/%22%2450-paint-job%22-thread-1555133/

DiRT!'s car which was about $100. Looks good to me.

back to the topic: syzurs is right on the plastic adhesion promoter since sideskirts flex. without it, the paint will chip/crap easily.

was told paintscratch.com has pretty near-to-OEM paint. Good luck and patience is key when painting.

slowej8 the only reason why precisionsc54 said hes not gonna reply because you kept asking about the clear coat and 1 guy said it wont be shiny and you kept asking weather to clear coat it or not but take my advise primer it white before you lay the paint on so the paint will be lighter if you use darker primer you will have to have a few layers of paint and it will come out darker..remember like the others said use plastic adhesion promoter, primer, and paint & clearcoat. try paintscratch.com there paint will match your car pretty good

Oh and someone with intelligence must be you, paying hundreds to paint your ricey car, and that's posting something totally helpless. Gj

This Civic was painted with real paint not rattle can. If you read the post the guy said he worked at a bodyshop. He obviously has the hook up for paint. I have a friend that does this. He takes a lot of left over paint from the shop and paints cars on the side at his house and makes a huge profit.
