Icon3 Fuel gauge issues

I recently replaced my fuel pump in my 01 civic, now the fuel gauge will only go up to the half way mark even when the tank is completely full.

Does anyone know what can be wrong? Is there a certain way the pump has to go back in?

Default Re: Fuel gauge issues

the pump has no effect on the gauge.

the float does have an effect on the gauge. if the float lever is binding or something not allowing it to fully float to the top could be the problem. all tanks have splash shields on the inside to tone down the sloshing effect. maybe your float is stuck on one. look for complete operation of top to bottom of float.

next parts you will need a volt meter of somesort.

also the float sends a voltage to the gauge ranging from .5 to 13 volts or soemthing to that effect. check operation of the sending unit (the float electrical unit if you will) and make sure it sees this range with you holding the float up and holding the float down. if it never sees the highest side of the range then look for pinched wires.

if it does see the high range (full position) then your sending unit isnt sending a good signal. replace sending unit.
