my db8 was sitting during the winter and now it seem like the alternator is gone because when i put a new battery in, the battery light is on. and my cd wont turn on cause im guessing that there wasnt enought power. neways i was wondering is it easy to change the alternator myself... DO i need a lift? or i can just bang it out in the back yard. thanks

ps. any DIY on alternator? ohh yeah is avdance auto alternator any good? cause this 1 shop told me it garbage. .. mayb they saying that so i can buy their DENSO alternator which is like 400.. thank you.

 

The alternator isn't that hard to do, don't pay someone to do it. DB/DC's are easer than DA's, and my DA is still a driveway job. If you don't know how to do it, get a manual. Helm's is the best but kinda pricey, haynes is just ok but cheap.

Also, $400 is rediculous. Go to schucks or kragen or whatever is in your area it should be like $120 or something. They have a lifetime warranty so if it goes out, just take it back and exchange it. They also carry haynes manuals.

their website prices seem fair to me.

 

go to the junkyard. or craigslist. alternatir change is easy. i think it was only 2 bolts.
