FWD launch techniques, lets here them.
I am interested in hearing how some of you high WHP guys launch to get a good 60ft. from tire psi and size to burn out and then actual launch rpm /antilag and all that.

I don't consider myself a high whp car but what i do and most videos i see incar is try to take up the slack (preloading) in the drive train by holding the car with the stage brake or e-brake and letting the clutch out until the car wants to move. Then i will use the brake to stage.
I cut 1.60's back to back for my first time on slicks at nscra april 4th. 2 step was at 6800 rpm and would make 5-10psi. Tire pressure was at 7-8 psi cold and just a little burn out compared to most guys i see doing burnouts with sfwd cars. I noticed when tony1 8's at the shootout, seemed like he didnt do a huge burnout either.

what is your launch rpm?
Im not high on the whp really 450-500ish. 8psi in tires 7200 launch and i kinda time it out to not build boost or it blows the tires off. Almost always in the mid low 1.6s unless track is completely junk. O and usually first gear burnout, if track is junk second gear.

so you guys are saying first gear should not blow the tires off? i always blow the tires off in first and often second no matter what i try.
my hp is 510 and my tires are 24.5x9x13 i also do a second gear burn out. here is a example of my launch , 6000 2 step about 4 psi antilag and preloading hard. this was a 1.8 60 ft if i raise the 2 step to 7000 i can nip in the 1.7s i also had boost by gear installed and tried lowering the boost for first from 20 to 10 and it just slows me down, seems the more i fry first and the more power i put to it the better 60 ft i get , if you can consider a 1.7 good.

what 60's did you pull in the rex? i think its mainly your track man. If you were to run at like MIR or maple grove you'd easily pull 1.6's
lol, pretty much what i was going to post. im anywhere from 7-9 psi, making slight adjustments in the tires or launch control to suit the conditions, anti-lag and dump her, and pretty much grab 2nd as soon as your hand gets to the shifter
i could get low 1.7 with the crx and only 305 whp with 23 inch slicks. my best with the EG so far is 1.75 and lately with the bost by gear its 1.8s
I see most of the high hp guys that get alot of wheelspin will rev out the limiter a little more in 1st to get more momentum/mph outta the tranny before they shift, so they wont bog in 2nd.
Also OP, make sure you roll completely out of the water box before your burnout. Staying in it during your burnout will have your tire temps lower than they would be if you burnout out of the box.

when you speak of preloading, are you basically riding the clutch before you launch? i look at preloading a couple of different ways.
I used to pull the e-brake after I prestage, then ease out the clutch until the car dips, then I would ease out the e-brake until I stage, and pull it back up. Lately, I just been leaving the e-brake down after I prestage, then ease out the clutch until I light the staged bulb, THEN pull the e-brake. I think it puts less stress on the clutch disc this way IMO, instead of grinding on it from prestaged to staged.
well what gets me is with teh crx and less power and smaller slicks i was getting low 1.7 with the civic i have 200 more whp and larger slicks and can barely get 1.7s i wonder if upping my revlimiter from 9500 to 9700 would help cause it would spin the tires more, i shift at 9000 any way.
i have tried every PSI and it seems between 6 and 7 cold works best, the suspension on the crx was just skunk 2 coil overs on tokico struts and i didnt adjust the front due to the 23s fitting ok, the civic i have now is the same accept at the track i have to raise the front inch or so to clear the 24.5s.
Obviously that will help with traction for cars that like to spin through the 1000' mark
