Default Koni/GC helper springs

Hi all,

On my EK3 i have a set of Koni yellows and GC coil overs (12/10) and i need some helper springs for these.
On our annual check-up the car is jacked up and the springs are not allowed to hang loose when the shock is extended, if they do the car doesnt pass.
I dont feel like heightening/lowering the car every year just for this, and maybe mess up my allignment every time.

So... i need a set of helper springs to get this done. Does anyone here have any experience with some brands?

Thanks!

I've used search but nothing is clear. Just everyone explaining the difference between tender and helper springs.

Example off springs i'm looking for. Maybe the owner of this set can chime in.

I'm guessing it's from kw looking at the colors (yellow/purple)

That's going to help a little, but my springs will still hang loose at full extension then.

ive talked to Koni here in the states before and they had helpers for sale at around $25 each. I am not sure if they are made by Koni or someone else, as I decided to go a different route. You may be able to call up Koni over there and see what they suggest.

Oh, and I checked their website and couldnt find any info on their helpers. This leads me to believe that they were selling someone elses helpers.

Swift makes helper springs, I'd try to find a Swift dealer in your local area. Personally, I'd have no problems at all running Swift springs.

i belive to help provide a smoother ride as some coilovers you will get to much of a bouncy sensation this is supposed to help prevent it and likely to help make a even transition of slack thru your coil if you have alot of slack in your setup ( i ususally incur this with my rear shocks i tend to have alot of free play in the springs and top hat when fully extended)

They actually do nothing They're springs with a very low rate to keep the coilover in place. In my case i need it to pass the yearly inspection so i wont need to raise it every year and mess up my allingment.

Also during heavy cornering (3-wheeling) the 4th coilover can come loose from the seat and might not return as nice and smooth as you want it to go. Like Eklum said

Eibach makes them. The ones Koni and GC sell are made by eibach. They are 2.5" inner diameter helper springs. You will also need the 2.5" inner diameter spring couplers. All these parts cost quite a bit, so I opted to pass. I thought GC would sell the complete set of 4 & 4 for like $200, but that was about 5 years ago. Give them a call & ask again...

The Helpers are around $60 each and Couplers are $30 each in a quick google shopping search:

94eg! thanks, i did see the ones on the GC site and indeed they're pretty expensive.
That's why i was trying to see if there were any other brands that also carry these.

I'll try to get in touch with GC. And see what they say. I've also send a request to KW in Germany which is a lot closer to me

I'll post if i found anything.

yeah and then you also need the spring couplers so these aren't directly on the coilovers..

bringing this back from the dead...

i just ordered a pair of helper springs from Ground Control. $50 each for the spring, $25 each for the spacer that goes between the springs, and $10 for shipping. So, I guess in my earlier post when I said they were $25, I was mistaken and the spacer is $25, not the spring.
