Default Cam Gears for a ZC ... once and for all :(

Ok guys... I keep hearing rumors.... "Yes, the B16gears fit", "No they dont get blah blah blah", "Get 89 Teg gears", "Why you wasting $$ on a ZC"

What the real truth? Does AEM or HKS make a fitting Cam Gear for the ZC.

Im really looking for the New HKS gears.

Finally.... Do all Honda Cam Gears have the same amount of teeth?

Thanks guys.

JUN has ZC cam gears. They are the only ones I know of with a specific application. Although 88-89 teg gears are they same as 88-newer ZC ones.

HKS "USED" to make cam gears for ZC's.... I had a set.... and NO, Honda had different size cam gears.... I know for a fact that the 86-87 Integra motor and the Brown Top ZC use a different cam gear from a black top ZC....

I know for a fact that 88-89 Integra cam gears will not fit. They are much bigger than ZC cam gears, why dont you think we get a different timing belt than a 88-89 integra, we get b20a prelude belt. I have been told B16 ones will wrok, just need to be machined down ont he side.

excellent point about the t-belt......makes me think tha prelude gears are the same (B20A)

Makes more sense that a b-series is the same/similar enough

here's what I know; as stated above, HKS no longer makes ZC cam gears. JUN does, and they are pretty expensive.

Here is an e-mail I just got from Skunk 2:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skunk 2 Racing offers a set of camgears in your choice of either blue, red or silver. They have an MSRP of $252.00 Visit our website <http://www.skunk2.com>http://www.skunk2.com to find your nearest dealer. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us. Thanks

Too bad I couldn't get their web site up; something wrong with their Macromedia Flash plug-in setup.

I bought some AEM 23-603's, which are the listing for 1st gen. Integras; they definitely DON'T fit, as they are way too big, and have too many teeth
(my '91 ZC has gears which are a hair under 4" in diameter, and have 34 teeth). They were replaced by AEM with 23-602's, which are the right size,
and have the correct gear count. I will be putting them on in the next few days, so I will let you guys know if they fit properly. On the topic of AEM
gears, I talked to one of their techs regarding the old "the 3 bolt design is weak...." controversy. He told me that they had just finished doing a
comprehensive test, with several magazines being invited to watch. Apparently this test will be coming out in these magazines "soon", but the
long and the short of it is that the cam shaft broke before the gear slipped. They had it in a vice, with, at one point, a 200lb dude standing on a breaker bar attached to the gear, and it still didn't slip.

As a side note, I have talked to several people who swear up and down that the gears for the 1st gen Integra will fit the 88-91 ZC; I am not
sure how this is possible, unless there were different versions of the 88-91 ZC engine.

Also, I have tried (in vain) to find out what all the UK dudes use on their D16A8's & D16A9's; there must be an adjustable gear made for these
engines, right?
