gettin ready to paint.
alrite..i can't afford them high paint job.what i'm doin is picking up some aerosol base color match rattle can paint and clear coat.had to special order them.they come in 12oz.not sure how many cans of base/clear do i need to fill the whole car??got the car primer for now.i probably gotta re-primer it.what grit do i need to wetsand?before apply the base coat?how long i gotta wait between eash coats?need help
Yea i would not spray the whole car with rattle cans esp. if its a metallic, BUT to answer your question. before basecoat i would wet sand with atleast 600 but since your a noob i would do 800 then base it and wait around 5 mins between each coat and then 5-7 between base and clear and the same goes for clear coat GOODLUCK
Please don't do that to a car.
It's going to take 10 times the work to get that crap off once you're done.

Ha ha, I think this is the first time I've ever recommended the 50 dollar paint job for ANYTHING. I'd rather do the 50 dollar paint job then rattle can the whole thing. Well, if you're stuck on doing the whole car with rattles, then do this, have a friend help you paint it, have your friend just sit there and shake the cans, switch off cans every 30 seconds or so until it runs out, then as soon as it runs out, have your friend hand you the can that's already shaken up and keep shooting. What car are you painting? For a regular size civic/etc you could paint the whole car with like 5 cans I would think. Oh yeah and take your time taping. Don't skip corners.
Is there any way I can talk you out of doing this?

Well, it'll always looks great after cut and buff but the quality of the paint determines the life of the paint. For example, rustoleum paint has no UV protection (unless marine clear coat is used over it) and will be softer than real automotive paint. If you don't have too much cash, goto TCPglobal.net or find their urethane paint on ebay. Either way, the total should be under $300 for clear coat, base coat, primer, and all the required hardeners.
i know is kinda ghetto but thats all i can afford rite now.i try to spray it good and get the best result out of it.it's alrite,if it turns out good or not cause it my project car anyway.

i painted a hood with rattle can paint,it comes out like factory paint,,all you have to do is let the air out of the can upside down, poke a hole and drain the paint into a hvlp gun with a filter.once you get the paint layed flat then you can clear coat it with the same process. Also this is good thing because it dries fast and about 10min you can lay the clear coat, but prepped everything. Its too hard to shoot it out of a rattle can and hard to lay it even on a large surface.
who said it cant be done anyway, look on you tube there is alot of professional touching up a fender or a bumper, with a duplicolor paint cans.

I did this to my fender and hood in the back yard... uh... I personally think for small areas like fenders, it's not too bad. for the hood however, you will probably get some disappointed results cuz the preasure in hese cans changes while you are spraying, and it's like when you are half way through the hood the volume and spraying pattern start changing and that becomes really challenging. My comment to this is: I would want buy a paint gun to paint my car when it comes to taht time cuz you'll get very frustrated at yourself while doing it, and the result will be not as rewarding (might not look like a zebra, but you can certianlly tell this came out of the "back yard paint shop")
