Tires. Keep it in stock class.

I think the Si is in D or C stock?

buy some seat time. Go to your local autox and just go at it. You need to learn how to place the car the way it is now in order to utilize any parts you decide to install on the car.

just remember slow in, fast out.
Understeer is a mental game. If your understeering, your going too fast.

They're both right. Start with good tires and seat time. One thing about real racing (autocross/roadracing) as opposed to drag racing. Its not about your car as much as its about the driver...

True you could be going too fast or turning the steering wheel too much, or both. A natural reaction for someone learning to drive is when a car starts to push (understeer) in a corner they turn the steering wheel more, which doesn't work. Slowing down a little and getting a feel for how much to turn the wheel before you start to push is key.

Seat time with an instructor or riding with an experienced driver will speed the learning curve greatly. More so that buying go fast parts right away. Having fun is the most important part...

First, pick a class you're interested in. Stock, Street Touring, Street Prepared, or beyond.

People always say learn to drive with what you have, but good tires really are more fun..

you are in G stock or STX. SCCA website has a intro to Solo.

I run in STX with a under prepared 2008 SI cpe. Just 17x8 BBS wheels, 225 RE70 tires, -1 camber added up front and a 22mm Progress RSB. I am descently competitive in the Phoenix Region which is tough. Lots of National caliber drivers here. I place typically around 30-40th out of 120 competitors in PAX score about 900-930.

This week I'm adding another -1 deg camber up front for -2 total, -2.5 camber rear with camber arms, 17x8.5 Enkei RPf1s, 245/40/17 Dunlop Star Specs and Axis Ultimate pads all next week before my next event. It's gona be fun and I should be right up there in the 950+ PAX scores soon enough.

I may have to roll my rear fenders for 245s but you can get away with 235s and -2 camber rear on 17x8 +45 rims for sure.

Good luck!

just stick to stock class now. worry about upgrading later. learn to drive your car. when you become a faster driver, your car will be faster.

the only upgrade in my honest opinion and everyone else's, that you would need or want. is seat time.

Oh and driving good tires all week, then driving on crappy tires to your event is very frustrating. Don't do that. (Found nail in tire night before event on my normal tires, fail, all well the tires weren't THAT bad that I used for my first event).

Stock the car is very good but you know what, stock sucks. Have fun with your car and try not to do any mods that put you into Street Mod or a prepared class.

YOU WILL NOT BE A NATIONAL CALIBER DRIVER YOUR 1ST OR 2ND YEAR OUT!

If you stick to stock, I suggest buying 16" RSX-S wheels and a set of USED R comps. Also get the HFP suspension if you don't already have them. That is if you really want to lower your car and slightly increase your handeling.

Also check and see if Honda finally lists a "CRASH BOLT" (camber bolt) as a OEM part for the FG/FA cars and go buy those to give you some much needed camber in front. Running SPC or Engals camber bolts is illegal in stock class.

FYI, running taller tires than factory will give you less camber on this car. In the front you might even go positive lol! Damn struts!

true stock is not fun, but it is fun when you beat a bunch of guys in a higher class with a stock car.

and why pray tell would you want to run a taller tire when it'll make your gearing longer and will make your car handle like a sponge?

and last i remember positive camber is bad for autocrossing.
