A Carbon Fiber hood problem: doesnt close properly
Hey there, I just got a carbon hood for my DB2 GSR, from a guy who has a DA Integra. He claims the carbon fiber hood worked on his DA, so then we bolted it onto my car. It bolted on nicely, and is in really good shape (considering it was only $250). Anyways, when we tried to close the hood, we noticed that it only hooked into the first lock (on the latch), nut not the second one which is meant to completely close.. Its hard to explain, but basically if I drive around like this, anyone could easily open my hood by reaching for the latch and opening it. For now, it drives fine, because the first lock keeps it down, but technically I am driving around with an "open" hood, if you know what I mean. We tried to press it down a few times, but nothing really worked.. Bottom line - it cannot fully close..
Any help would be great.

This is normal...most CF parts never have a good OEM fit to them...That's why people pay the extra bucks for the VIS, or spoon...or other named brand CF.

Have you tried adjusting the hood latch?
A few 10mm bolts, some tweaking, and you should be fine.

True true, I know what your sayin because on the right side of the hood there is a bigger gap between the hood and the fenders - as there is on the right side.. But anyhow, what do you think could be done about this?? Thanks.

You can try loosening the bolts on the hinges and see if you can adjust the left/right play.
As for the hood latch, are your headlights sitting up too high? That could stop your hood from closing correctly. If that's not the problem, you can try making the holes bigger on your hood latch - that will have you more play so you can move it higher and fully lock the hood.

Ok, I raised the hood latch up to the next hole (not the best job) but it will do for now. lol, the hood still looks like its open but the up side is that it lets air into the engine.

Ok, here are some pics. It still doesnt line up properly at the front because the latch is too high (I have to drill some holes a bit lower and then it should sit close to perfect) Anyhow, for now this is good, because atleast it is nice and secure in the second lock (might not look like it, but it is) Still needs some fitment work, but thats about it... What can you say, it was $200, so thats why i didnt grab the latch when it was at stock height.
very similar issue happened to me after loaning a buddy my cf hood for a couple days. i could only get it into the first click & after that it wouldnt budge.
it wasnt lined up properly with the hood latch hole. the latch was landing on the side of the hood latch closest to the front bumper. try putting your finger there while trying closing it to feel if it is lining up properly.
until i adjusted my hood latch i would literally have to pull my hood twords the front bumper and stretch it into the latch to get it to close 100%.
