Sorry to ask again K&N Filter part numbers again!
Hi guys
I searched but the thread is no longer here. I need the thread of the K&N filters again. Im looking for the ones that I modify the stock arm and dropping in the box. There were 3 filters with pictures. I think 1 of them was the HU-2028 or something like that!!
Please help! Thanks

The 2820 is the one people are modifying to use in the stock airbox, since it costs around 30$.
The drop in replacement (includes all the necessary plastic) is closer to 100$.
Off the top of my head, I wanna say it is the 2427 (but that might be backwards, 2724?)
aet

You have to cut the stock filter off of the plastic elbow so that you can place the K&N filter on. Also, the RU-2820 filter has a 3" inlet but the stock elbow is a tad bigger (3.2" or so)...but because the K&N inlet is rubber you can stretch it on with some patience.

Universal: RU-2820 (requires modification to stock filter for fitment)
Drop in: E-2427
I got both

any got pics of them both?
Both perform better IMO.
I used the RU-2820.
It took about an hour to dremel apart the stock filter to my satisfaction, and basically superglued the K&N
to the plastic end piece and the angled piece that attaches to the rubber hose.
I can't find the thread now, but a while back a guy had pics of several filters side by side.
Its been said before, and im sure it will be many times again, that the filters dont really gain you much ON THE DYNO.
But drive the car with both, and if you dont notice a difference, you arent driving.
Im not making any claims as to HP gain, but ...
Theres always people debating about foam vs. k&n( or oil).
The facts are:
the more free flowing it is, the more likely its letting dirt into the engine (foam)
the oil based filters are a better trade off, they let in less dirt, and flow better than stock (paper)
Hope that helps some.
Oh yeah, anyone remember that thread? have a link to it?
I know the guy that made up those pics is around here somewhere...

RU-2820 (left), stock filter (center), RU-3130 (right)
Here is a picture of the RU-2820 mounted in the stock airbox.

If you want OEM fitment for the stock intake box, get a Spoon drop in filter.
how come the fitment of E2427 kind of sux >_<
the RU-2820 has the best (most) surface area of all the above selections... this means that it can filter the most
Edit: Or are you comparing RU2820 vs. RU3130?

yes, i did the calculations, the 2820 has more surface area,,, tho the 3130 is longer a bit, it tapers in the front. the 2820 is a full cylinder, thus has the most surface area...
