Default b16a sticky throttle body

so we just got done swapping a b16a into a 5th gen hatch...and test drove it.. first thing i noticed was that the pedal felt "stuck" at first then it would feel free.. everytime i stepped on the gas, it felt like it got caught onto something...i went to the throttle body, and the the piece where the cable attaches on.. that feels sticky too. when you press it to open up the butterfly valve.. it feels the same as the pedal.. stuck at first, then it moes freely..happens everytime.. whats wrong with it?

Get some carb cleaner. Take the TB off and clean it right up. After that, lube up the external spring a little bit. See if that helps.

right, and if it still sticks the stop screw may have been tampered with. it's the little set screw that the throttle rotor stops on. adjust untill sticking stops, but no more.

im having a similar problem in my 89 hatch with 1st gen b16a, except that it works freely, but will not return back to idle at 750 rpms, instead when i let off, it sticks at 1300 rpms until i pull up on the gas petal then it comes back down to idle. its not the cable its the mechanism that the cable hooks to, ive tried cleaning and lubing it, but it still hangs, any suggestions?

pull the intake tube off, and spray some carb or throttle body cleaner into the throttle body or onto a rag.then holding the throttle wide open, clean around the mating surfaces. it could also be that your throttle position return spring could just be worn out.
