well since i'm looking for some LS headers for my LS motor with 3 inch intake and BPI flowstack and straight 2 1/4 piping to a s2k muffler, will it be practical using my hytech replicas (small tube) from my gsr build? Or should I sell them and get a DC header with smaller diameter piping since my setup is basically stock?
i'm trying to decide if a DC header on my stock LS will be a better choice, or should i just use my hytech replica?
feel free to chime in guys!

wow, nobody? i remember seeing a thread with stock motors and the hytech replica header if i can recall right..
if anybody has that link, post it up!

its the high rpms that you most benefit from using an hytech header therefore I think that this header is not as worth it to use as it would be on a itr. a stock ls hits it peak power at low 6k's vs 8's with an itr not to mention the head doesnt have the flow characteristics either. conclusion I personally think a hytech header would be overkill for your ls,it wouldnt have to much of a gain over a cheaper header like an used dc.why pay that much for an extra 5hp when you can probably get a vtec head or some non vtec crower cams for the same amount and make an extra 30hp?

i think it would make more power than a dc header.
i can pretty much guarantee that this header will make way more power than a 4-1 dc header. ive owned it and it was a POS. the hytech is a 4-2-1 design makin more torque and a better power band. have one on now and its great
yeah I know the guy has the header but he can sell it for more than what a used dc header costs and put some money aside.and for results dude there is several hytech replica test results, there is even one posted on the very first page on the all motor thread this morning check it for yourself and tell me if you think its worth it? th dc is very slightly even better till 6k and only then does the hytech make a max 3-4 hp gain and thats on an almost 11compression built jdm gsr not a stock **** flowing ls, as mentioned before the hytech will only shine at above 6.5k where the ls is already making **** numbers and its time to shift. but yeah you can expect 1 or 2 hp gains for a matter of 1-300 rpms for an extra couple of hundred bucks if you really want to though!
go run a hytech replica header man. if you feel the difference cause not all of us have dyno time just laying around or cash. the dc is a total pos dude. its so topend oriented that the low end suffers really bad. the hytech surpasses it tremendously. sorry bud

well i have time to mess with s300 on the streets and my friend's dyno will be finished up sometime next week so i can stick it on the rollers for a solid tune..
so Hytech replica.. or DC?..
also, will the hytech replica fit on my LS motor? or is the motor to tall/short?

It's funny how many people say the DC JDM 4-1 is crap but it has been shown in many a header test in the past to perform close to, or as good as many of the highend headers up to 7000rpm. It's a good header for most stock or mildly built motors. I purchased one years ago for my build when I saw how good it performed against many of the high end headers. Later on when I continued to build my motor I spent the money for an SMSP and am completely happy but I'd never say the DC was crap.
ohsnapzafingcu, both headers will work well on your motor, the replica should make a little more power overall but I doubt it will "kill it". It will fit fine since it was made for a 1.8L and you're running a 1.8L.

Just because its a 1.8 doesnt mean its the same thing
Highend headers do work well on stock motors if they're designed for it. That's the reason SMSP builds so many different versions of the B-series header, they'll make power on whatever you put them on and even if you build the motor later. Custom is always better but there are a few off the shelf headers like the DC JDM and old Edelbrock that worked better than most off the shelf units.

so the hytech replica for a gsr will fit my ls no problem right?..
i plan on building this motor with higher comp/ p&p the head with some valvetrain and some crower cams.. so i'm sure this header will be great to keep around
thanks guys!

so i got the hytech replica installed today with a 12" or so resonator.. no more buzz until about 5k which is no problem with me...
i feel way more low end and afr's didn't seem to be too disturbed! but i'm gonna get tuned this week and see how much power i can put out
