Default Drains in roof removal??

My 00 Civic has the drainage channels in the roof and I have had people suggest I shave those out on my show car.

What do you peoples suggest?

My civic actually doesn't get many miles cause it is a show car and rides most of the time on a trailer, though.

If it's a show car I see no reason not to remove the rubber trim from the rain gutters (NOT moonroof drains) and then shave them down. I personally think it might look nice if you have them shaved along the bottom only so they leave a long indentation ("ditch"), but are smooth and painted in the little ditch area.

So should I shave it completely out with a strip of metal welded in and then body filler or just leave some indication they were there. Everything else on my civic is shaved totally out.

Now remember, my car is along way from being done. I still need to swap out the rear brakes from drum to disc and install my new motor in it (K20) and then finish the interior before I take my car for paint.

The civic is going back to the frame shop in 2 weeks because when I bought the car it had been wrecked and the previous owner didnt get the body straight. I have wrinkles in my strut towers right now and that is why the front end doesnt line up right too, besides the offset of the headlights

The interior is about to be redone with a full fiberglass job from the dash to the rear seat (one piece).

precision. I dont care if I get ragged on about my car. I have done all the work myself on it, and if people don't like it, then they don't like it. I am just trying to do something different.

your too use to the lip kits and stuff.
to compete in shows, you gotta be different and you gotta stand out from the crowd.

i was actually more facinated when cars with extreme body work entered in HIN way back then.

now you see cars with all this "JDM" thing going on and its all the same.

i rather see this car in a show then a jdm front integra.

looks good for doing all the bodywork yourself.
are you painting it yourself too?
what color are you thinking about going with?

Anything looks good in primer, wait till the shine goes on to see how straight the body is. Im glad all the wack a** body kits dont rule the shows anymore.

I am painting it myself too when all the body work is fixed and I have my new interior built along with the new mods to the suspension. I am going to strip the bacl primer off as well as the grey primer underneath. I am then going to reprime it with some that will match the paint anyways (warranty on paint is if you use the same stuff from one manufacturer for the whole job).
The paint job will have graphics done in it with Cool Blue Candy, so that will sprayed first and then paint masked for the graphics. Then going over the whole thing with Black Sapphire Metallic with Red Flake. Then peel the paint masking off and then 4 coats of show quality clear with ALSA Crystal Chrome Illusion added to it. The ALSA additive is $450/ounce and I already have bought it too.

I like the widebody on the eclipse, but the widebody kits they make for the civic are ugly (the ones I have seen), that is why I opted not to go with the widebody along with the RSX front.

On the note about the paint, I went to school for auto mechanics and auto paint and I am just trying to get my car just right.

Another thing I am working on is a new air tank for my suspension, instead of the chrome tank I have, I am building one that will fit inside the wheel well itself.

Precision, you say my car looks like a ricer, but the suspension I have is far from what a ricer should have. I have a full Air Ride Technologies suspension with a 10-switch switchbox.

Well, to answer your original question, yes, I think you should shave the channels. I wanted to do that same thing. So I filled it up with duraglass. It was perfect for about a year, then I realized that this one edge had a bit of rust on it, reason being the paint under it wasn't good. So I knocked it all out. Anywho, I want to do the same thing, but don't think my budget will allow. I think metal should be welded on to cover it.
