Default Clunk on large bumps after skunk2 pro-s install

Hey guys

Just installed a set of skunk2 pro-s coilovers in my 90 EF a few hours ago. I'm running a B18A1, and knew about the crank pulley issues with rubbing on the traction bar, so I had it machined down. It's not hitting. I can get a couple of fingers between the top of my tire and the fenders no problem, but when going over medium-large bumps, I get a loud clunk from the right front. It sounds like when my coilovers in my old RX7 froze solid on my last winter.

Now I'm trying to figure out what it is. Could it be the trans hitting the traction bar? I guess I should mention I'm using hasport mounts. Anyone else experience this? Thanks in advance.

Dirk

interesting. so it's probably the trans hitting the traction bar i guess. I know the crank pulley isn't.... Anyone with a B series run into this?

Thanks acED6

I have B18C in mine with Innovative traction bar and Skunk2 ProS. Never had this metal to metal banging issue. Any chance you installed the softer springs in the front?

I think it may be your innovative traction bar that helps.

Nah, 350's in the front and 250's in the rear. Thanks though! Keep the suggestions coming.

double checked all bolts and they're all very tight. especially the top hats. so it's not an issue with that.

what upper control arm are you using? da brake upgrade? camber kit? ive had this issue with ground control and illuminas, it was the upper control arm hitting the inner fender well lip, banged it in and it went away.

Hmm, that would make perfect sense. It's a stock upper control arm, DA knuckles. I'll pull the wheel off and see if there's any sign of it hitting. Thanks formula.

no problem, yeah the da knuckles are slightly taller, for me it was that and the combination of the camber kit pushed the outer part of the arm out and up, cut/banged away at the lip on the inner fender well and problem went away...good luck

OK I got the car in the air and found where it's hitting. The upper part of the shock tower. Wow. Any good fixes for this? I raised the front as high as I could without it looking retarded and it's not as bad. I suppose It'll hammer itself in eventually?

what i think the problem is that your not getting enough shock travel out of your struts because your car is too low, and too heavy. raise it back up and see what happens, get new struts, konis ,etc or its your front brake assembly

is it the upper control arm hitting the inner fender lip? will hammering it not help? kinda sucks eh one of the advantages of coilovers is to can it and you can because it hits the frame rail....
