Are the MT 26/7/17 slicks too big for 220whp?
This is not a honda, but it is fwd and the brakes will only clear a 17 inch wheel.
You guys have been a good help in the past, what do you guys think?

way too big. calculate the tire size and your gear ratio. Thats one of the factors that it may hurt performance as well.
And a 26" tire is huge for a 220hp car.

Thanks for responding so quickly.
22" would be much better, but you would need to downgrade your brakes to do so. Are those tires that you mentioned ET Streets by any chance?
MT has a 24x8.5x17 in the ET Streets as well (205/40/17)

I have been eyeing the ET streets in the 17" size too though.
What do you guys think about this ET Street.

Looks to be a pretty good size

way too big and slicks that size are axle snappers anyways. 23's are perfect im making around 240 and they are working great
The only problem is the only slick I can find in a 17" that is somewhat small is the 26inch MT.
I could probably just slip the clutch with them and not break axles.

Bauer, you already got your answer from multiple knowledgeable sources, it would appear as if you're just looking for someone to tell you what you want to hear as opposed to the correct answer. Why are you bumping this after there has been a unanimous answer?
At any rate, since the last answer didn't seem to appeaze you I'll attempt to do so (correct answer not withstanding), I personally think the 26's are great for your setup.. hell buy 30's
I don't mean to call you out, but i work in the automotive industry and very often people will ask the same question multiple times/ways until they get the answer they wanted to hear. Often times you have to sell the customer what they need as opposed to what they want.

The answers above are the correct answers. Its simple as that. We can't stretch the truth just to make it seem like that a 26" will be good for your setup. It simply just wont work RIGHT. Will you go down the track? Of course it will still roll and get you to the other end. But will it work properly for 220hp. NOPE.
These brakes you have are not stock right? If so why not just go back to stock brakes?
Unless your trying to do Time attack or something but this is not the forum for that.
22-23's Is your best bet to get the most out of your car.

I wish I could use a 23, but I can't fit a 15 inch wheel which sucks asssssss.
while i think a 26 is alittle big, if its all you can fit, its all you can fit. if you can use a 8.5-9" rim to stretch it that will help shrink it some and stop growth. which should put it in the same range as a 24.5/13 setup. also be carefull when using M/C slicks, they dont come in matched sets so rollout could be as much as 2" different w/ the same pressure. and for drive train issues just use a little more pressure and keep them from folding and you should be fine.

I was thinking about starting at 12psi, what do you think I should start at?
Alright, the guy that I was going to get the slicks from couldn't get them.
Instead I got some 23.5x8.2 MT drag radials. Hopefully it hooks on these.
