New to racing/summer autocross project
Sorry this is so long but I am new to the forum.
So I am fairly new to autocross racing. Over a year ago I tried it out with a 2005 Nissan sentra ser spec-v. I had a blast it was so much unfortunately during a heavy fog incident last winter that car is out of commission forever. But I just so happen to have a manual 1995 civic ex sitting in my driveway at the moment has been there for a year now. It has some mods on it currently but am wondering what a good autocross setup might be for it. This was my bros car he had it up at the drag strip a couple times was running 15's wish I had a time slip for ya.
"Good"
D16z6 motor
aem fuel rail
a/c removed
power steering removed
coil over setup (not sure type whatever is typical on ebay probably)
front and rear sway bars
cold air intake (same typical ebay brand thing going on here)
Bad
headers snapped off at the flange(needs entire exhaust setup from motor all the way through the cat and out the back.)
17"rims with 4 year old worn sport tires
The plan
Basic tune up the car has been sitting for about a year with little more than the weekly start so any ideas on any upgrades vs stock here would be great.
Left over from that spec-v I happen to have some 17 falken azenis rt-615 laying around. 205/45 17" tires. Going to try to put these on for race day. Any reason for or against this would be great.
Coil overs to be replaced. My bro had the car for several years and bought some new coil overs a while back same type ebay whatever brand. Put these on for some stiffer handling.
Replace full exhaust system with a new header and back exhaust. Any suggestions here would be great.
Thats the current plan for the summer just get her in running shape and out to the track a few times. She is going to be strictly a track car from here on so Im hoping she has a bright future. Possibly a rebuild and some internal tinkering make the revs go higher but I havent researched those possibilities yet.
Thanks for any comments or advice you have to say.

you should get the car running... nothing crazy and just race.... your first couple seasons is to develop as a driver
after your first couple races... get a rulebook read up on it... and pick a class to build to that will fit in your budget....
dont go mod crazy it will throw you in classes where you can't really dial in where you are at as a driver... and its when you use excuses for getting beat.
get the car running properly and just get as much seat time as you can

Thanks for the advice. It already has mods done to it that I am pretty sure will raise it to the next class. I dont want to remove any because I dont think my bro has the original parts to replace them and I dont have a whole lot of money to be spending on the project. But it for sure needs an exhaust so that will have to be purchased everything else I have laying in my garage not being used so I figured this was a good cause.
