Default Ed's 89 ED Build "Slow but Sure"

What's goin on HT So I decided on yet another project after building several EG hatchy's I wanted to do something different. Inspired by a old EF thread I found that I was more curious about all those 88-91 sedans more and more. So I searched and searched and came across this a 1989 Civic LX Sedan with only 272k lol but the beauty of it is, it all works all the power windows, door locks, no leak (yet) and a pretty clean body. So here I will post my semi build.

this will be replaced

So far I have the engine of course

Not a big fan of the blue

No worries picked up a full black interior from a Red 91 LX Sedan at the Junk yard

Found a 95 GSR cluster for the low low

A real not fake momo wheel

Gonna pull this rear disc set up from my EG hatch along with the Fit wheels for now and tokico Blues

My future plans:
For the wheels will be the sportmax 501 silver 16x8 on 205/45/16,
Sedan painted it the Grigori Metallic from 09 Acura get the seats re done in black Suede, install my JDM yellow square fogs, Amber corners no side markers
and go from there

Please let me know and I will keep you posted on it all wish me luck

So far so good I have done hours of research for this sedan just kind iffy about a few

Got started on some more Research last night.....so after several forums all I could find was how to install an Integra cluster into a 90-91 Civic/CRX, not my year 1989. So I picked up a 1989 Civic Service Manual from Honda and the help of a Haynes Acura Manual...I really don't know how much of a difference there is between 89 and 90-91 but wires from the write ups seem to be different. So I created my own. So far everything looks good I got them all matched up Even the cruise control I think (Speed Pulser) now just for the work.
If anyone needs all the pinouts let me know and I will post the exact ones.

Ed

If the pin-outs work and everything I would like a copy so I can put my GSR cluster in my CRX. I think you need the 90-91 cluster hood as well if I'm not mistaken.

I should have it all powered up in a few days, I went with the Factory Spec Manual on the pin out's I just got done removing the old blue interior and so far so good minor rust inside.(pics up) I wanna say the 90-91 Civic Lx Hood might just work, but we shall see. I have the whole dash out and going to work on the fitment out of the car.

Thanks
Ed

So it took me all about 30 minutes and so far so good. Did one wire at a time.. I got everything to work Tach/Gas/Temp/Check Eng/Seat belt/Trunk/Batt/have not verified lights control.....etc the only thing I will probably due the Da fuel sender so I can have a fuel low light. I also have to figure out how to wire the door Open light to the cluster. I left that one wire out (speed pulser) to verify cruise control connection later. Also pre wired the VSS signal wire and the VSS power wire. My next to due list will be install the Cluster into the dash...wire the "lights on reminder" buzzer and bring the ED into the garage to due the rear disc swap from the EG and drop in the Tokicos plus the fit wheels.....I will post up later on that....

Thanks

Ed

I am really stuck on what size Wheels to go with. I know the wheel will be XXR 501 in silver but what size? Here are two views one being the 195/50/15 on this thread

https://honda-tech.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=233

or the 205/40/16 on this thread

https://honda-tech.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=217

I would like to order them this week but await your opinions.....
I have seen many 15x8 on EF/ED but few 16x8's

Thanks-
Ed

Believe it or not all the interior/carpet minus seats/GSR cluster and EG front forks plus all the obd1 plugs, I pick up for 130

20 for Dash (no center vent or clock was broken) grrrrrr
15 per panel
10 Center Console
20 for Cluster
1-5 for misc interior
15 for Carpet
10 for forks...etc

I guess they thought the cluster was the old Sedan's

I still need to go back and grab the chassis plugs for the defrost plug/brightness controller
and the rear speaker cover parts

Hopefully find a DA rear T-Bracket for my swap
and the Front mount (engine side)

Along with DA Fuel Sending unit (fuel low light)

My parents have a fit with those wheels, i've always wanted to steal them for a day and take pics. It'll be good to see them on there.

I think NA-all-the-way has a set on, i could be wrong, but his sedan looks great.
