trouble with axles on 99 integra gsr
I replaced my axles on my 99 integra gsr and installed a skunk2 front and rear camber kit about 3 weeks ago. A week later I would hear a thump noise when I would change gears and then started to vibrate around my pedals and would click when I made right turns. What ended up happening was that my passenger axled pop off so I replaced it and then a week later after replacing it it started to do the same thing. Took it to the shop and they told me that my car is to low and that I should raise it up or buy aftermarket axles stage one i guess. has anyone had the same or similar problems. I bought the axles from autozone and they were new. The car is lowered on neuspped lowering springs which were on the car when I bought it.
sounds like you have an issue with the axle staying in the diff. three things are usually the cause. 1. you didn't pound it in till it completely clicked. 2. the snap ring could stand being pried apart a bit or 3: your diff is about shot and is allowing the axle to wobble and come loose. i've seen more than one high mile beat tranny that just never did let the axle seat quite right. one still had a pretty good wobble even after seating.
well the first time I installed it with my friend who has installed axles before. the second time i took it to a shop to get it installed just to make sure if it wasnt me that mess up. about the tranny its the original one and it has about 155,000 and when i got the car it had 110,000 miles on it and in that period i never messed with it or anything like that. its just a daily driver. But lets say it is that do i buy a new tranny or can the problem be fixed by rebuilding it. So it doesnt have nothing to do with the car beign lowered. thanks

ill tell you whats wrong with that.....take out your axle take it to the auto parts store where you bought it....measure it...belive me...that axle you put on your car is at least 1inc smaller then oem.....i have the same problem...turn out the axle they give me was about 1inc off....when i measure it with my oem one. Turn out 2 of the axle they have at autozone where shorter and the other 2 where 1and1/2 inc short crazy huh..lucky me the 5th one was about right...if you want axle buy oem dont waste money on your local autoparts store..you might be lucky and get a good one but most of the time its bad...short....you get popout and viberate...
www.raxles.com is a good alternative to OEM, they are the best quality reman i know of. no junk sold there. the shorter axle mentioned above would 100% cause this issue. i can't believe some places would have such things.
