Can you run 2 ohm speakers off a 4 ohm amp ?
If I have a 4 channel amp running 4 ohms for the door speakers, can I run 2 ohm (Infinity Kappa 62.9i) speakers off of it no problem ?
MOST 4ch amps are 2ohm stereo stable, i have heard of some 4ohm stereo stable amps, but no in the last 15 years... and those amps were hardcore SQ amps.. think they were mcintosh, maybe wrong... anyways to your question, if you have 6x9's that have 2ohm vc's, and the amp is 2ohm stereo stable, then yes, it is ok, if you have 1 speaker per channel.
I have it running straight off my alpine 9815 for two years now and its fine. I've also installed it with some flea market 4ch amps for people and to this day its still plays fine and nothing wrong with there amps.
Look at the manual for your amp and see if it is capable of it.
You can also check out Infinity's website they also have a answer there for your question.

Rockford Fosgate 4ch amps are stable down to 2 ohms in the 4ch mode and down to 4 ohms in bridged 2ch mode.
So as long as you leave amp in 4ch mode you will be fine with two or four 2 ohm speakers, or a set of 4 ohm and a set of 2 ohm speakers.94
