My buddys gsr block has a 19 teeth water pump on it and my buddys cheap and i ordered a gsr timing belt. Can i just put a ls timing belt on it?

 

tell your cheap buddy to get a gsr waterpump. there's a reason people use gsr waterpumps when doing LS/Vtec

 

yea. ls water pump-->ls timing belt...gsr water pump-->gsr timing belt. gsr water pump is better becuz its more safe during the high revs...but ls should be ok.

To answer the original question, yes an LS belt will work if it's an LS water pump.

However a VTEC pump w/ 22 teeth is generally regarded as superior, since the GS-R belt will spin the pump slightly slower, which will help reduce the amount of cavitation (air bubbles produced) around the impeller wheel.
