Default P1457 - Control System Leak Detected

P1457 - Control System Leak Detected (control canister). That's what I've got. I've been doing some reading here on this site and found a couple of things that could be causing it:

- Bad/Loose gas cap (I replaced mine less than a year ago though)

- Failed vent or purge solenoid.

- Failed hose connection or hose.

The threads I read had some good info in them, but none of them had any recommended way of attacking this code. What should I check/do first to try to get rid of it? The easiest would be to get a new gas cap, but my current one is less then a year old, they "break" that fast? Anyway, as far as the purge solenoid and the hoses go, any cheap/quick way to check these out? I'm not very experienced with fixing these kinds of things, but like learning new things about my car.

Any suggestions?

Could be that your EVAP canister is full of water.....more common on the 98-02 Accords...

It turned out that my battery has been dripping acid onto my evap canister, burning a hole straight through the top. Replaced it yesterday.
