i already got a 55shot for my car but have not installed it yet. is this a safe setup to spray on?? car made 190whp with no spray and a 2.25 inch press bent exhaust. the dyno reads 10-15 percent lower than it should.

he doesn't know his actual compression ratio so it's pretty hard to say that it's to much. A bigger exhaust would help you with power, especially running nitrous. I'd talk to your tuner and see what he has to say about tuning it for nitrous. You can run it but like anything, if it's not tuned properly, you'll have problems.

why is 12.5 too much for spray? nitrous LOVES compression, as long as the motor is built for it an the tuner is capable of tuning it properly go for it

Sounds like a damn nice set up. How big of a shot are you thinking? If you do spray it I would go with a 50 shot

boost =compressed air = heat , no2 is cold, cools down combustion chamber so less chance of detonation...why nitrous loves compression more than boost??? .. and that exhaust has got to go, try a 2.75" exhaust...ur running a b20 and nitrous will benefit from better exhaust also...k20s are running 3 inch exhaust all motor with gains everywhere...

is it worth running open header at the track? how much whp do you guys think i will gain? i have a 2.25 press bent exhaust.

thanks for all the replies.

I would run open header with that setup on the track. The crush/press bends will yield you at least a 1/4" loss in overall pipe diameter depending on how bad they are. I noticed a huge difference on my LS/V open header on the track (14.4s to 13.8s) running the same size crush bent exhaust. I also however wasn't running the cat with the 2" inlets and outlets which was probably the biggest restricting factor.

For the n2o, just make sure you can trust your tuner. I am going to spray a 50-shot wet on my p30'd LS/V this summer. Maybe pull 1 degree of ignition timing. 55 is a pretty mild shot. Is it wet or dry?

LOL...EVERYTHING loves Compression....All Motor, Boost, Nitrous. It's ALL increasing the Dynamic Compression.

The limitation is going to be the FUEL. Hell, 12.5:1 is ALREADY pushing it on 93 octane pump gas!

Find an EXPERIENCED Honda tuner and ask them what they'd think could be done. I highly doubt they're going to recommend a big shot b/c you're already at the edge of what your fuel (I'm assuming 93 octane pump gas) is capable of supporting. Honestly, I wouldn't even run a Static Compression ratio >12:1 on 93....much less pushing the fuel further by adding a Nitrous shot.

Am I the ONLY one that is confused as to WHY this is in the ALL MOTOR section?!

lol ive got a 100 shot on my all motor b16a with around 13.5:1 compression it loves it.
as long as you have a high enough octane your fine im runing 110 currently
as far as nitrous goes you may want to retard your timing a degree or so but mybe not a 55 shot might be okay tho

id say its in the tune and who built the motor.. we recently got one of our cars tuned (B18c1 2.0L) 14:1 CR and around a 150 shot direct port, car made 261hp all motor and 396+hp on the bottle. we ran out of juice on the last pass but the car is 400hp on the bottle. i will have the video ready in the next few days if anyone is interested in seeing it.

Shouldn't this thread be in the "Forced Induction" forum?

Since most people that run nitrous, run on all motor 99% of the time and this question deals with a fairly high street compression ratio, it could be answered in either forum. I always felt there should have been a specific forum about nitrous use and tuning since it is used differently than a boost application and has different tuning requirements.

if you are running that motor without vtec oil pump or rod bolts I wouldn't even drive it, let alone spray it. But what the hell... Is that a dry shot too?

Thats awesome...So it's mainly a race car though.

To the OP, anything can take a 50 shot, do to your compression you may have to remove 1-2 degrees...Future, I would upgrade your fuel system and do a dry DP, better gas(E85 if you want pump) and give it 100 or more.

i may be a noob on the site but have been around race cars for a long while and with your set up and what everyone is saying its all in the tune, you should easily be able to run that 55 shot may have to re-do some of the timing a degree or 2 i believe on a stock set up it requires 2 degrees retard for a 55 shot to 75 shot or so good luck with it
