Default Feathering the clutch?

Hey everyone,
i'm a bit confused on the term feathering the clutch. is it basically slipping it out until the tires grab? i'm trying to get this method down but not many people could describe it well enough to me. they all said its in practice. but how the heck am i suppose to practice something if i dont know what they mean? if anyone has videos or can help me out i would appreciate it.

thanks!

I always thought of it as instead of dumping the clutch, let it bite enough while your revving the car at the same time to get the power down with out spinning. Kinda slipping the clutch to get as much power down with out wheel spin. Maybe I am wrong.

thats how i was thinking of it too. adding throttle while releasing more and more of the clutch without dumping it one time. maybe other people will chime in..

Lets take a stab at it this way. Preload the driveline.

pull up the e-brake, give it some gas, let the clutch out until it begins to grab, then release the e-brake and go.

Watch the in car in this video, notice his right hand.

I was playing about at the track with 2nd gear launches, which requires a bit of clutch slipping.
Just role into stage pre-loading, waiting for 2 stage lights raise rev’s to required launch and balance throttle against clutch.
Video will show the results, 12.3@118 off of a 2.2 60
Car is full road trim and weight.
Car in nearside lane was stripped out, fuel cell track day prepared car, he launches in 1st.

thanks for all the videos and tips everyone! this is helping out a lot. i think my mistake last time at the track was not giving enough throttle to it. i was basically bogging out off the line.

thanks again!
cant wait to try it next month
