that would give it a bit more power. might as well just put a y8 head on it then, that would make it pick up pretty good

it may help a little bit, but i mean the y7 wasn't designed to make the most power, it was designed for economy. hence the lesser hp rating and the lack of vtec.

like d16sihatch says, its not a power motor. i mean come on, it comes out of a stock cx or dx hatch, cant move that good, but better than stock

The d16y7 from what i found out is JUST a newer type of d16a6 engine...

i found out that the stock dizzy from mpfi 89-91 will bolt right up to a d16y7 engine some sensors wont be pluged in on the d16y7 if its going into a 89-91 mpfi no bigger 89-91 si ecu wont look for those sensors anyways should work...Theres gonna be some changes from engine to engine like oil pans and where the oil dip stick is on the oil pump and on the d16y7 it has a crank angle sensor you can disconnect if its going into a mpfi 89-91 theres some other stuff like you need to use the the 3 bolt mount from the 89-91 to work in a EF the d16y7 covers need to be cut alittle...

Correct me if I'm wrong anybody...

yeah, as much as people talk it down, the Y7 with Y8 manifolds will sit side by side with an EX (stock Y8), maybe even inch on it. it weighs less... in your case you're 200-300lbs lighter than a DX EK coupe.

if you do it right, get good parts, start with a good motor, it should be pretty fun to drive.

oh, by the way- don't forget to get the Y8 exhaust manifold (IMO, the 99-00 > 96-98) unless you already have decent D-series exhaust.

the dx tranny is really gonna slow it down. atleast if it was an si trans it might be kinda quick.

Well in a couple of weeks I will be putting a d16y7 in my 91 hatch. My question is how do I go from odb2 to odb1? The car was already wired for obd1. Would it be like going from obdo to obd1? Also if I what ecu are compatible?
