I have a 1999 Accord Coupe. I received the front door speakers and I checked Crutchfield and they say that they don't fit my car! I could've sworn I checked and they said it did! I know I checked Best Buy and they said it fit!

Can anyone verify? Did I just waste money?!?! DAMN!!! Has any ever installed these before?!?!?

Does anyone know how to get the factory specs for the stock accord 6 gen audio system?

im pretty sure there is a bucket that you may have to trim, this is true for almost every honda.

 

I haven't actually tried to install them, but I just saw that crutchfield said they wouldn't fit.

Those speakers should have a Honda mounting bracket in the package.
You may also have to modify or create a new mount surface for the speakers.
It can be done. It may be above your skill level...but that speaker can fit that car.

Its about knowing what your limits are.

 

yea quit freaking out, your acting like your car is broken down or something... pull the door panel, speaker cover, whatever, pull the old speaker out, see if the new one fits, if the hole is too big then you may need to make, yes make an adapter plate, or you purchased too small of a speaker, if the speaker is too big or it bottoms out in the plastic basket, then get a dremel and cut it so that the speaker can fit, i have worked at a few shops over the last 8-9 years and not everything is plug and play, and molded to fit. alot of the time when installing door speakers, especially on a honda because alot of honda speakers have 3 screw holes and your aftermarket, yet having many hole patterns, usually don't have that 3 hole pattern and a shop is just gonna thread new holes anyways. Plus if worse comes to worse and they don't fit, simply return them...

 

x2 calm down when i put my 6.5s in my civic and they didnt fit i freaked out, called the shop and they said trim the bucket, and they fit

Start by telling me the model of Alpine Type R speakers you got.

Your 99 Accord uses standard 6.5" door speakers and may have come with 5.25" speakers, either ones will fit , stock mounting hole diameter is 5", stock mounting depth is 2".

If your Type Rs are PR-17C... http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...?model=SPR-17C they are 1/2" too deep, the speaker is also an "over-sized" 6.5" speaker and needs a 5-5/16" mounting hole diameter, however they come with adapters, the top one is for your car. 94

Part of the problem is that I can't return them. I bought them on ebay.

also when you install the speaker, re connect the power window switch and roll it down just to ensure the window does not hit the back of the speaker, i have had this happen before in an old school accord.
