alright here's the story.
i had this car (3600 total investment, stock 1.5L, automatic, complete suspension, and some minor interior/exterior upgrades)-
my buddy (Seats Four) had this car (over 14,000 total ivnvestment, B20vtec, interor, suspension, and braking upgrades, virtually a 12 sec. car)-

in May, we traded each other straight up for cars.
but now he wants it back for a "fun" car while he uses the sedan (all stocked out) for a daily driver. and i want something new, with two more doors (i miss having the sedan). so here's what he offered me...
i'd get:
-91 CRX alloys (4 brand new tires)
-98 GSR alloys (needs 2 tires)
-Tokico HP struts
-Eibach Pro-Kit springs
-ST Dropforks/Proarms
-Strut bars (all 3)
-99 Si CD player
-90 EX guage cluster
-Prelude steering wheel
-Integra headrests
-Autometer monster tach
-Si lip spoiler
-Rear mudguards
-91 Si muffler
-B16a block
PLUS $1700 CASH
he'd get:
-87 Civic Si with B20/vtec
-91 DX sedan headrests
-87 stock Si steering wheel
-set of black 13" steelies (brand new tires)
do you guys think it's fair. the thing you have to think about is, all the stuff i'd get in the trade USED to belong to me (except muffler, b16 block, and tach). same goes for him except the set of steelies. he'd be keeping his whole investment of the 87 civic and it's motor, PLUS my $3000 sedan, and i'd get $1700 (plus what i could get for the GSRs and B16 block) to get a new car with. and i'd have all the parts to put on it. it's all complicated, i shouldn't think of money here, i should think of what i want and what i would end up with and what he'd end up with...but.
i was GOING TO try and sell the 87 for 4000-4500, and given that he'd give me 1700, that leaves 2300-2800 worth of parts i'd want to at least have. when we add up the approximate USED value of the items i'd recieve, its' about an even $2000. should i ask for that extra 300-800 to be added to the cash he'd give me since it's what i was looking to sell it for that amount?
i mean it wasn't a fair trade to begin with, but he wanted that nice AC that the sedan had for his new work commute. and now with the new trade he's getting back his old car, my old car, and only paying out half what i paid for the sedan. the only reason i'm worrying about actual values of stuff is becasue we're TRADING, not selling.
what's your guys' opinions??? what should i do???

He DOES deserve his car back. But you are getting the crappy end of this deal. I think.
is the B16 motor complete, or is it just the block? How good a condition is your old car? If it is in near perfect condition, I would say trade cars back and then you could buy the parts he no longer wants from him.
Then again, you were going to sell the car anyway. Decide what you want next and then figure out what your best deal is.

i remember seeing his post about trading that car..i was wishing i lived close to him. i think you got the better deal to begin with for the 87..i think it would be very wise to keep that car.
I wouldnt do it. He is getting far more. Maybe if he gave you like another 1G you would be near to ok. But i wouldnt other than that.
keep the 87 !!!!!!!!!
DONT BE A FOOL AND GIVE IT AWAY CB U WILL REGRET IT BIG TIME!!!!!!!!
sorry about the caps but i wanna make sure u keep it! lol

That 87 is badass. You got the good deal last time, but it not being permanent, it doesnt really matter. You guys should trade back, then go from there. If not, then he should give you more cash because it's how you end up thats important. I personally wouldnt take parts in trade, I don't even think those parts are worth 2k. Most of them are completely random, good luck selling. Do you have a car to drive now?
Edit: basically, I wouldnt want to screw my friend (find a way to give him his car back), but he shouldnt want to screw you either (don't let yourself get screwed)

Hey I'm the guy that was proposing this trade but i really wanted to think about it last night and I did. After I thought about everyhting i saw how it really wouldnt be a good trade on his part. Hes one of my best friends and i would hate to screw him over so I decided to not go through with it. Hes gotten the short end of some deals before and i dont want to be a part of that. I was just throwing the idea at him because i know he doesnt want to keep that hatch. Id hate to see him sell it to some random person because not many people respect that car for what it is, most just see it as an 1987 Civic hb.
My intent was not to screw my friend im not like that at all. I just thought that with all that stuff(susp. wheels) **** that i know he likes and with $1700 cash, possibly $2000, he could go out and buy a '90'91 DX sedan and already have a complete susp., 2 sets of wheels and misc. stuff like the spoiler, headrests, little things that he bought for himself.
The reason i traded in the first place was because i really wanted a car with a/c for my 50 min. commute home at 5 pm. And, if your not familiar with AZ its hot as hell, i endured it for 2 years while i had that hatch but i just didnt want it anymore. Im not going to screw my friend over so Im not going to try to trade him. Thanks for your opinions though, it helped me out too

Now i relieze why you're a dick ur dohc dx and homocoforlife. Sounds like ur friend is dicking u over either way u look at it hes making out
But Close
He is not trying to "dick" anyone over!! He's not like that... the trade wasn't about what is worth more (because if thats the case it wasn't fair in the first place) The trade was over what they would get out of it... and how much the person would enjoy what they got out of it!!
But Close
no i mean hes a ******* and teh reason he was banned 2 times befor is cause hes an ******* i could care less about his trade he should keep the 87 if he dont then he better get a better deal
Someone made out like a bandit the first time. One good turn deserves another..

hmm..i'd just be concerned that an 87 hatch like that w/ b20vtec would be worth so much more than any old 90-91 sedan w/ suspension. i've seen money come between friends quite a few times..so work it out so you both are completely satisfied.
