Upgrading Grounds on motor.
i had read an article in a Option magazine that said showed a dyno chart of a stock r34 skyline..then they put on a grounding kit which consisted of like 4 or 5 wires that were super thick...they gained 3 PS and it made power all the way to redline? is this a real mod or is it just a GIMMICK?

here's a thought, mate. go get some 0 guage wire, 6-10 feet, rewire your car's "earth" and report back to us. it is THAT easy.

go to your local stereo shop or best buy and get some 0 or 2 guage wire.
This does do something and you don't have to buy a kit, best buy and home depo for grommets.

Hmmm...
SO just bigger wire from the engine to the chasis, tranny to chasis, alternator to chasis....what else???
How would I go about doing this???

found this...
so does the battery have anything to do with it....it's just bigger wire right??
That kit shows a central ground block and battery terminal...somebody explain porfavor...I have to change my ground on the head cuz it's all fucked up...so I might as well do this while I'm at it and see if it works...

This all sounds kinda fishy to me. I can't see how running a bigger ground wire with improve power. I won't believe it until I see an accurate dyno chart before and after with the ground wire being the only thing they changed. I think companies are trying to tap into the import market because they know that there are retards out there that will buy stuff. Maybe this will do something, but I'm skeptical.

I know you can get big power losses from not having a good enough ground. and there's no such thing as too much grounding, but there will be a certain point where it's getting all it needs and going bigger than that won't do anything. My guess would be 4 gauge, but that's just an educated guess from someone who's been a professional car stereo installer for 12 years.
okay class schools in session.....It does work no BS ( i have been doing this for years). Its is based on Kirchoff's Laws of Voltage and Current..
KVL..states voltage applied to a DC circuit series circuit must equal the sum of the voltage drops within the circuit.
KCL states that the total current entering a point or junction in a circuit must equal the sum of the currents leaving that point or junction.
Okay but how does this relate to our cars namely performance....
Simple if you look at the Honda OEM ground connections..they are of about a 14ga wiring with in many cases inadequate connection points. Its these point that voltage is reduced slightly..but if measured as a whole it affects the voltage of the whole electrical system...ie 12.8v @ battery but say 12.6v if measured elsewhere( it should be the same..you are losing voltage..this is BAD
Also try to think of of your power and ground connections as one big loop from and to the battery.A heavy guage ground wire is just as important,if not more so than the power wire guage( 12 volts references ground 1st not power) If you have too small of a guage ground ( remember the OEM 14ga wire) you will develop a voltage drop which even small will affect electrical components.
Hope this clears it up....Wish I would have thought of it first thought....Wow I guess my college years were worth something....
Have fun

So how does the power of the battery affect horsepower? Last time I checked, MY car runs on gas, and will run without the battery after it is started. So where is the battery power affecting the power of the motor?
Go, tornado, go! Please give me a BETTER reason why it is good, except, perhaps, to run your stereo at a higher voltage. This is where the benefits are at. later, Overkll
