purge solenoid + tuning question

I have a 97 ITR, which is currently tuned on ECtune. The person who tuned my car is used to tuning Obd1 based car for boost such as ef, egs, and etc. He has had little experience tuning a N/A obd2 car like my ITR. He said he normally removes the whole purge solenoid system, which i'm glad he didn't because of IL emissions. About 7 months ago my car was tuned with the purge solenoid still in the car and connected to send data to the ecu. Until now i didn't know that Obd2 ECUs only use the purge solenoid at certain points like high rpm, while a obd1 ecu on a obd2 motor will use the purge solenoid at all times. This makes it harder to start the car, and also run rich (a lot of smoke in VTEC).
My question is, will there be in problems to just unplug the purge solenoid? Keeping in mind that my caR was STREET tuned with the purge solenoid. Is it possible that disconnecting the purge solenoid will cause my car to run lean. The reason i ask is because i remember reading older threads in which people with Kenji tuned ECU's (baseline) would disconnect it. I just want to make sure to get a clear answer on rather my situation is similar or difference, so i can safely operate my caR. I just want to make sure that the purge solenoid was a contributing part of the air/fuel ratio before i do something will bring harm to my motor.

TIA Justin

The purge solenoids are inverted between OBD1 and OBD2. You can unplug it or invert the output in the software... atleast i think you can with ectune. Either way, i usually just unplug it.

Even with the tune including the purge solenoids?
I know many people will say, "go get retuned!" But the caR and I are in Kentucky, and the tuner is in IL.

Honestly, if you're spewing fuel in VTEC, you should probably get it retuned anyway. It was tuned with the purge solenoid working, so that shouldn't be happening regardless.
