painting turn signals
so, i tried painting my signals.
first attempt.
took stock turn signals, painted them with duplicolor chevy orange. light coats and clear. looked like this...
didn't like that. so i went out and bought a set of clears. used a friends air-brush kit with tamiya clear orange paint. and they turned out real well. i'll post some pictures of it tomorrow. until then...
's on me!

voila!

Try this: Buy some Krylon stain glass paint in orange. Spray light coats just to get things started. You may have to apply several light coats to the disired orange tint you want. Once you find the disired orange color, spray several coats of clear. Goodluck.

you can pick up a can of opaque amber color paint (used for models, etc.) at any hobby store and that should do the trick... don't know the exact code/name for it but they should be able to help you out. They come in tiny cans and aren't too expensive.
buy a sheet of transparent orange vinyl (no more than $5 at anart store, sign shop). place ontop of the signals and cut. that's it. it is glossy, looks good and you can take it off with ease. trust me. i did some signals for a teg with dk gray vinyl and they looked great.
here are my tail lights (pretty much the same) with the dk gray vinyl http://www.disc.cba.uh.edu/~mrosanes...s/DSC01243.htm

there was no way i could paint it from the inside. even though thats how you're supposed to use the model paint. i just did the outside. the whole process went as follows
1) bought set of clears @ dealership. stock ones were 86 a piece!!!!!!!!!
2) set up compressor and air brush set ~ 10 minutes
3) painted ~ several coats real close to surface 15 minutes
4) waited to dry ~ 40 minutes
5) mount.
