SVT Cobra Mustang Club Driving School
I got an open invite to drive at their HPDE, but they don't know what type of car I have. Their reg list is 95% Mustang's and Vette's with one Porsche in the middle. It looks like I would be the only Honda there.
I have run into some animosity from just one or two Cobra owners in some CarGuys and NASA events. But most of the others are just car guys and I get along great with. But now we're talking about an entire club of stang boys.
Has anyone ever driving in one of these clubs before? Would I be a welcomed fellow track guy or a hated import guy?

i wouldn't worry too much about people being rude to you, car guys are car guys, the ones that have a problem with you, you probably don't want to meet anyways.
You'd be both, depending on who the person is. Younger people tend to talk trash, more seasoned racers (typically older) know it's not the car you drive that makes you fast.
HPDE's have their own rules, pretty much anyone can attend, not just track people. I would talk to the people that invited you, mention what you drive and see how they react. If they back off you know your answer.
They should have an idea of what kind attitude is going to be there.
But I do agree with verticle and ...esteban, run it. Just be ready for some looks and/or comments.

Don get out there and run that car.. good chance to test your splitter anyway.
Who cares what anyone thinks about imports.
You were invited and everything else shouldnt matter.
Go have fun!

By all means go for it, especially since you're invited! Those who really know road racing respect a fast driver regardless of what car he/she drives.
I wouldnt worry about it, Most mustang owners are ********, but if they are actual racing the cars on a track, they more than likely are good people, i dont think ive met a person that actual races there car that was a dick.

Nothing humbles a Cobra owner like getting passed by a Honda :D
go for it man, like stated above, the true car guys will love the car no matter what it is, as long as its fast.

Of course you should do it.
I drove with that group last year on the south course (VIR) and I had no issues. I drove the class right under their solo class (sorry I can't remember what it was called).
Of course I was the only FWD guy out there and one of two hondas, the other being a S2000.
It was a well run event and if I had the funds I would be there this year for the north course.
PM me if you need or want an instructor recommendation.

I'd go. Not that what I think matters much. :-)
In my experience the unity of the Brotherhood of Speed generally trumps any domestic vs imports bias.
I'm surprised that you've had any problems at all. I never have. But maybe I'm too slow to make people mad.

A lot of the Mustang guys run NASA SE, they don't pay much attention to Honda's until they get passed. I haven't run into anyone to bad, just the occasional guy with radials and stock brakes who wants to drag race down the straights.
Do it pass'em all and post the video

Thanks for all the input.
I've been doing track events for about 8 years now, so I've run into all types of car guys. Most of the experienced drivers have all been really great to be on track with. I've only run into attitudes with the drag racers and street racers.
It sounds like this club event is a good group of track guys, so I'm looking forward to it.
