Default what cluster do i have

ok i went to a junk yard and got the this cluster gauge
the guy said you just plug it in for it to work
i go home and plug it in it works but not the tach
and for my check engine light the battry light comes on and the brake light stays on all the time
and there not a third slot for me to plug in the wire with the blue connector

my friend has the same looking one but it has diffrent looks to it
like the redline bar is bolded and not dashed

Edit: Since yours is a hatchback also, it does not have cruise control. From looking at other photos and threads on this at H-T, I now think your hatchback's blue connector is for the temperature and fuel gages for your hatch. Like others wrote, you need a more exact match of clusters. bkhondaparts.com says the 90 Civic Hatchback Si cluster should match the 90-91 CRX's and some of the 90-91 Hatchbacks. Your junkyard guy seems to have bad info on the cluster he sold you, or else something else is amiss.

You have a 1990 Hatch? What yr did the gauge cluster come out of? The 88-89 Clusters are NOT plug and play, you would need the whole wiring harness behind the dash to make the 88-89 Cluster work on the 90-91. You need to get a 90-91 Cluster, then its Plug And Play. TRUST ME! I did a plug and play cluster swap on my 89 Hatch. Got a cluster out of a 88 CRX and it works 100% no mods needed.

I'm thinking of doing a cluster swap also, but I have an automatic tranny.
Is it still do-able?

I assume the donor would also need to be an AT car since the gear selection displays on the cluster.
