b16 smokes + runs rich, help!
Hi everyone,
So, it all started a few thousand miles ago when i noticed my 2000 civic si em1 started to smoke a bit out of the exhaust. Here's the deal, I'm pretty sure the smoke is a mixture of burning oil as well as the engine running rich. I always park my car in the same spot in my driveway and there are absolutely no visual oil leaks. Here's the specs:
-stock b16 104,000 miles changed every 3000 miles with 10w30 motor oil
-AEM fuel rail
-p28 chipped and tuned on crome
-Exhaust/headers/intake
symptoms:
-Black exhaust tip, I guess I would describe it as soot type material
-blackish with a hint of blueish smoke coming from exhaust, I noticed that it smokes pretty much from idle all the way to redline, of course a little more the higher you go in the powerband
-Runs rich
-burns about a quart every 500 or 600 miles roughly
-I recently put the stock ecu back in for a bit to see if it would run any better, no difference except that it did in fact throw a code for the cat converter
-coolant levels are perfect and have been perfect
-changed the spark plugs today, noticed that they were a little fouled/black at the bottom
-Also ran a compression test on the car today:
Cylinder 1-4 respectively 200-180-200-200
-the second cylinder did look a little yellowish when i pulled out the wires to change the plug, other than that cylinders 1-4 were bone dry
valve seal guides? could it be piston rings? bad 02 sensor? Why is my car smoking? Anyone wanna take a stab on what it most likely is or give me advice on what I should try next? thanks
