Icon2 CEL curiosity

I have a EM1 swapped with a SIR II b16a, here's my problem. It still has the obdII computer and harness and the exhaust only has a port for one the front o2 sensor, so the CEL is on for secondary o2. Is there any way in tricking the ecu to turn the light off for good or do I have to bite the bullet and get a o2 sensor and tap the exhaust????????

the secondary o2 on an em1 is on the cat and plugs into a sub harness which plugs into the underdash harness..

i don't know of anyway to 'trick' or get the ecu to stop throwing a code for an o2.

did you actually pull the code?

yea the crappy scanner at auto zone said secondary o2. All this was done before I got the car so its my dumbass fault for buying a already swapped car, the cat must be from something else cause there isn't a place for a o2 sensor

The SIR II B16A is OBD1 and runs off the P30 ECU. Therefore will only have 1 O2 Sensor so it sounds like the person that swapped the OBD1 B16A in place of the OBD2b B16A2 swapped out the cat because they didn't need but one O2 Sensor(They could have just got a plug though)but left the wiring all OBD2b with the P2T ECU.

I don't know though...I ain't that great with the OBD2 stuff so if what I said makes no sense thats why..I was just trying to make sense of your situation.

I don't know about all the emissions stuff as I am pre-96 and OBD1 so I don't have to worry about nothing but a safety inspection. But you might have troubles and maybe thats why they left it OBD2 instead of converting to OBD1. Now I wonder if you could get a bung welded and plug in a Second O2 so the CEL will go off??

I take it thats the ONLY code its throwing at you?

Yea that pretty much what happend, I was pretty sure there wasn't going to be a cheap or easy fix but thought i would ask. I guess I'll just keep givin the inspection guy a little extra to give it a clean scan

It's too expensive to buy an $8 O2 bung and pay an exhaust shop $20 to weld it in after the cat?

Yeah it is..but IMO still better than driving around with the damn CEL on. I can't stand that..bugs me..

Of course seems 1/2 the swap videos you see on Youtube..they all have the damn CEL on cause the wiring is ****ed up.

Isn't the old Secondary O2 zip tied up somewhere under the car? Of did the previous owner take it off?

Opinion:
if your worried about passing emissions then you need to either get a cat with an 02 bung therefore you can use that usdm obd2 ecu.. I bet its a p2t.. and you have to get an evap purge valve solenoid as well as other parts from a usdm b16a2 which means cfk crank fluctuation sensor etc.. if I were you just get a cat with an o2 sensor.. youll save yourself a ticket as well as saving the environment..

Solution:
1. Get a cat converter with an o2 bung and plug it in
2. Get a JDM obd2 ecu or a JDM obd1 ecu with conversion jumper harness
3. Get an o2 simulator which is stupid in my opinion
