Help from K20 Guru's?
Hey guys need some help if possible. I have the opportunity to get a damn near free k20 swap but need to know from peoples swap experience on their thoughts. A guy is selling his k20a2 swapped 04 for 10,000. It has what I see as at least $2000 in parts I could sell to help pay for the swap. My plan is to interchange my stock d17a2 into his and his k20 into mine and then sell his car bone stock for what I paid. This way I can make my money back from what i bought his car for and use the $2000 in parts sold off his car to pay for swap. Either way i called shops today about quotes on the swap and i got huge variances from $1200 up to $3000.
My problem is the guy that quoted $3000 is a honda/acura specialist and has done many of these swaps on em2's before, and he seemed to know what he was talking about. He said its pricey because in order to get the k20 swap into an em2 you can to cut off a stock d17 mount? this boggled me because in all the k20 DIY swaps i never remember seeing anything like that i thought it was switch subframes and bolt up new motor mounts? Im trying to find out if its feasible to interchange both motors and get them running (at least the d17 swap in the new car) running near perfect for under $3000? Let me know if you guys think its possible seeing as if I can do this i know I can get this swap for just my time and aggrevation hhahah but no involvement of my own money.
Also sorry in advance if i posted this in the wrong section

to get the additional parts BESIDES the motor swap itself will cost around or more than $2,000 without install/tuning/etc.... go to k20a.org and go to the em2 section and there is an entire write-up on it. oh yea, thats $2,000 US.

2. In order to get the D17 running in the vehicle that has been swapped, you might have to do some minor wiring, but it really should be a drop-in if the previous owner didn't do something ridiculously custom.
3. In the FAQ's, there's a thread regarding the K-series swap. Starting there, would be your best bet.
