I took my car to the dealer on February. Because I had problem with my syncro.

So they put a new gear on 2nd and 3rd.

After that, the gear grinds less then before.

But still grind the 2nd gear sometime.

I took it to the dealer but they say there are no problem with my any gear.

Here is another one, I know a lots of people have this issue, whenever I roll down my windows about 1~2inch, windows shatter or vibrates.

They say this is normal which all the car does.(What? does not make any sense to me)

Service advisor told me to roll down the rear windows too, it will reduce the noise.

Any input will be appreciate.

 

As for 2nd i have this problem but only if i am beating on the car hard, and if i try to take a sharp corner it will grind. The window stuff myne does this only if it is windy outside like a strong cross breeze. Also watch if your window isnt rolled up all the way and you shut your door it looks like its gonna bust.

 

I have my own issues with our windows but as far as the 2nd is concerned....


when are you noticing the grind, are you shifting from 1st to 2nd above 8k?


cause I noticed if I shift anything higher than 7.8-7.9 from 1st to 2nd itll grind cause its just simply too fast to catch. And its only 2nd that does it, all the rest can handle the hp/tq exhange.

 

i get the 2nd gear grind when im launching at the track. it has something to do with the engine and tranny movement. if i take off fast from normal rpm it doesnt grind with me. mounts should fix this.

 

2nd gear is a bit clunky in every sports car I've ever driven (both Honda and non-Honda), especially while the transmission fluid is cold. 2nd is the most heavily synchronized gear, so naturally it will be a bit notchy.

 

Yeah... wheneven I shift from 1st to 2nd it grind when the RPM is high.(not all the time)
I guess everyone have same problem that I have. Usually grinds when you launching fast 1st to 2nd. and when the rpm is high.

Should I say this is natural?
Cause my other Accord it grinds when I shif fast from 1st to 2nd. Even though I press my clutch pedal all the way.

I have a type S 6 speed tranny from 05-06 si my third is notchy. 2nd is butter..

 

im thinking its due to the engine rocking a bit that it doesnt let second engage all the way.

 

ohh I am in a swap integra gsr. engine doesn't rock as fg si.

 

When my car is cold sometimes it wont even shift into 2nd gear and of course when i took it to Honda. "we were underable to replicate a 2nd gear grind or problem" lol. but its summer time so well be good!

 

I was thinking that too. due to the engine rocking.
Maybe tq damper will help a little? Any ideas?

 

yes it will help

 

torque dampner doesnt do much. motor mounts or dog bone are the best bet.

 

I have torque dampener no help at all my car is getting worse. Used to only grind a little but go in now it generally locks me out if i shift above 7800. But of course my dealer once again "can't replicate the issue"

 

I had to take the "Tech" for a ride because he said he couldn't replicate the issue. I got 2nd and 3rd replaced under warrenty. BTW it helps when your girlfriend is a service advisor for honda!

 

2nd gear problem here too.... get the dreadful "can not be replicated" from the stealership. Might get a rebuild from CLUBRSX, make them take the bill, lol. Friend did that and the service manager was awed LMAO. But it was either that or the lemon law, which makes the dealership get in deep s**t from AM. HONDA for selling faulty vehicles, from what his attorney sed

 

i have the same problem wit my 09, 2nd gear grinds. an the window too it shakes when is half way down

 

it could be your syncros. happened on my integra. i took it to a shop and thats what they told me. but im not really sure on it though.

 

I have the same problem like you with second. It only happens when I beat on it, but I get the feeling that is just more from letting the clutch out to fast. Also, seems like the doors on the civics are made out of practically nothing. I close it and the sheet metal ratals. Kind of weird when the rest of the car seems pretty well put together.

 

correct. the engine moves alot which is why u get the grind. my car rarely grinds 2nd, or any gear what so ever. i wanna get the etd to stiffen it up a bit
