So my daily is a 95 EX 5 speed. It has been doing the intermittent speedo/odo thing lately; however, there are no CEL's and I cleaned the plug/connection. Sometimes when it's not working if I press the trip odometer reset in, the speedometer will work. This leads me to believe the cluster itself needs replaced.

yup. Your cluster is bad.

I've replaced 2 of them in my time owning my ej1.
