Putting the car back together finishing today, timing, antifreeze, torque?
Alright im finishing up the civic today, just put the B18 in it and the trans, now i had some stuff to clear up about...
Timing, it was timed when i took it all apart, block was never touched i did turn it over about 5 times oiling it every month, the head was all torn down besides the valves, so what i understand is put the 4 pistons in the center all lined up the same, put the cams in to match up together along with the line on the head, bolt it all down with the timing belt on, and put the distributer in the middle, and start it correct? then do i even need a timing gun?
Antifreeze-Ive only done this on a wheeler, what i did with that was left the radiator cap off and poured in the fluid from the highest hose, until it was full then put that hose on and filled the radiator, is that how you do it on a car?
Torqueing, I have all the specs i found on the forum, printed them off, a mechanic told me to use moly grease or something on the head studs? so they set it correctly?
So is this it? Anything else I should be aware of, Im not geting my hopes up because Im pretty worried something is going to go wrong haha, shouldve never tore it down.

Sounds like you need a manual specifically the install timing belt section.
I set the crank to TDC and bolt the head down. I just use engine oil to lube headbolts/washers, and use assembly lube on everything else. Install the cams at TDC. Install timing belt. Adjust valve lash.
You will need a timing light to set the ignition timing after you complete everything.
As far as coolant just fill up the radiator leave the cap off. Fill reservoir to about halfway between max and min. Start the car, and fill as needed for first minute or so. Put cap on. After a couple of heat cycles just add coolant to reservoir if needed.

You may also want to leave the top radiator hose off of the rad. but on the block. Add coolant through the hose so it will flow down in the head/block. After something has been sitting, that's typically what I do to avoid air bubbles. Obviously you will want to make sure that the lower rad. hose is connected at both ends.
Hook up the battery leads, and the loop goes around the cyl 1 spark plug wire. Depending on what gun you are using you can either dial in timing and use the TDC mark or set it to 0 and use the timing mark. You move the distributor to advance, or retard timing.
Just make sure you get the timing belt on correct. I highly recommend a manual!
pm me if you need a link...

Great thread about assembling an LS/VTEC engine, but most of the steps would apply to assembling any B-series engine, VTEC or not.

Alright, tried starting it, got fuel and spark, but ****ed up HARD on the timing excuse my language, people told me and I thought TDC was all 4 pistons same height, so thats how i put it together, now im corssing my fingers my ARP head work isnt totally gone. I read up myself on HT and found out how to do it...Im going to try to find the lineups on the crank pully and put pistons #1 and 4 up top. and do this the right way.

whaaaat man did you not look at that thread I linked you? It tells you exactly where to put the pistons when assembling the engine.
Yeah I appreciate it, thats how i figured out what was wrong...
Good news, valves are fine, started right up after i re-timed it, it idled up and down but that was the sensors on the TB. it idles now but tries dieing out...
But, i put antifreeze in and i kept finding hoses not hooked in. so i started hooking the unhooked ones in and then i had anti freeze comin out of my intake...So i gave up its 1230 am time for bed...I looked over the intake thinking i put an anti freeze hose to that but theres nothing...so Im not sure. anyone ever had this problem? I need a diagram of all the hoses on a motor...I want that stock gsr intake gone its so big and in the way.
