Default Does preout voltage matter on the subwoofer output?

The reason I ask is I found a clarion deck that I really like, however it only have 2v preouts. I'm only amping my sub in the trunk, so I was thinking maybe with a mono subwoofer amp it wouldn't matter as much?

Any input?

That would be fine. Having higher preouts makes it so you do not have to crank the gain up on the amp. And makes it harder to introduce system noice into a system. Sometimes when you have a gain up to high on a amp you sill hear a hissing sound.

You can get an electronic x-over to boost your signal or a line driver, some of those are variable and can boost the signal up to 6-9 volts depending on the unit.. for subs my amps like at least a 4v signal

Nice!
It is slightly cheaper here:

I have ordered both of my clarion hus and an amp from there with great results.

hopefully you never have to return anything. they have HORRIBLE customer service and take FOREVER. i waited 6 months for them to finally tell me that the unit could not be repaired and will replace it, but they didnt have any in stock. instead of waiting for them to get it in stock(about 4-6 more weeks) i told him to give me store credit because they wouldnt give me a refund for the life of me. the worst service and company that i have ever dealt with in my entire life.

i just brounght an open box pioneer 7000bt raido from work last night. it was 289.99 but i got it for $100. it was missing the remote and microphone. andways i thought it had 4v preputs but the score card from best buy said they where 2v. i look the raido up on crutchfeild and poineer and they say its a 4v set up. not that it makes a big difference, but if it was truely a 2v setup i prob would of returned it

Was this recent? My purchases were made over a year ago. And they only took like 3 days to ship my item. I didn't have to return my stuff though...
