Default reliable slim fan??

Hey! I did search but all I got is how to instal a fan...

I need a slim fan to mate with my double core rad and wondering if there was a brand better than other that I should look for... I know ebay sells some for cheap, but since it's mostly a track car, i'd like to have something that will last

Thank!

A fan is a fan is a fan. Order one that fits the dimensions you need, and the design (puller or pusher) and you'll be fine. Summit Racing or JEGs have a ton available. I've used one from JEGs and had zero issues, and the cost was ~$20.

Actually not all fans are created equal. Look at the cfm ratings of the fan, as well as wiring. Some can be wired as pushers or pullers, so just depends on what you need.

Also look at how it is shrouded. The fal units have a nice built in shroud. Others may make it easy for you to fab up your own shroud, etc.

As for fan brands, spal is a good unit.

I have been using a FAL dual fan that matches your requirements for 5 years now with no issues

I've used a FAL fan and also the ones that b18bturbo sells; never had a problem with either one.

Using a FAL fan here as well. it's nice cuz it hugs the rad with the rubber surround/shroud and it moves a lot of air when it's on...but it's not exactly 'slim' compared to other cheaper slim fans out there.

FAL. mine can be used to push or pull I've only had it for a year with no problems

the only reason I got it was cuz I got it from a friend brand new for $80. I wouldn't pay the $200 imo

You have tons of options, FAL, Proform, Mishimoto, etc.

In all honesty, after selling and using so many from different manufacturers, it really comes down to personal preference.

Mishimoto actually advertises a higher CFM-rating than the FAL 12" slim-fans.

The thing I like about the FAL fans is they are moderately priced, the quality is there, and they include an install kit (mounting tabs, mounting cushions, inline fuse holder, etc) while the other fans you see for $50-$70 do not.

I've used the FAL's as pushers, pullers, dual pushers and dual pullers and have never had an issue

CFM rating is a good point, I didn't mention that. Shrouds and so on though, you can just make for yourself. My $20 fan had mounting stuff, showed a significant change in temperature when being used, and was easy to wire up. From my experiences, I can't justify more than $50 for a fan.

+1
I've installed at least two dozen of the various Ebay fans and had no problems or failures.
Just make sure that the fan you pick can be made to work as a pusher or puller-whichever you need, and that it includes mounting hardware.

Fal aren't that cheapo... nothing under 100$... There is no fan that are plug and play for integra? I mean no wiring stuff? Some comes with switch but are like 200++

100$ is about what I had figure...

Ive been using Proform fans for many year now with 0 issue. Beside looking at cfm you actually wana look at the amp rating as that will give a better understanding of the fan of how needy it is and what it will push/pull. If the fan is mounted straight on the radiator its not going to perform the best it should. Making a shroud for it will give best result and usage of the fan.

There are two wires going to the OEM fan plug. Cut, splice, solder, done. Or, if you want it running on a separate circuit, you have two wires and a little button/toggle switch. You can make it more complicated than that, with relays and such, but it's not "necessary."

<-- No electrical genius here, but that's about as simple as it gets.

I've always done the same, wiring it into the factory circuit, using the plug off the stock fan.

Our slim fan and shroud actually added HP and TQ to the SR20 engine that Import Tuner used to test it. Check it out!

Article states they converted from a belt driven fan to the mishimoto electric units.... Highly doubtful there will be any hp differences for the OP's application.

^and i'm sure that any electrical fan will produce the same results once converting the SR20 from belt to electrical driven fans.

FAL or anyone can make that claim as well.

And to add to the misconception! The fan did not make any power in of itself or add power, the change in fan type only reduced the drag on the SR20 engine, allowing the SR20 engine to make additional power.

Maybe, maybe not, but it is a reliable slim fan and that's what the OP was looking for.

I never said that we were the ONLY ones who had the ability to do this...

So it did what most engine modifications do, which is allow the engine to make more power?

I was being polite, we both know it won't. Why not just post up the specs on your fan to help the OP make their decision.

I heard similar things for BMW's, in that converting to an electric fan over one connected to the engine, "frees up" more power. Too bad FWD Honda's don't work like this.
