Default COBB Tuning Seeking BETA Testers Immediately

*** UPDATE ***

We currently have a large enough pool to select our BETA testers from. We anticipate final BETA tester selection will be completed by early next week.

Thank you again for such a positive response!

COBB Tuning

--------------------------------------

COBB Tuning is seeking candidates to perform BETA testing for the 2006-2009 Honda Civic Si AccessPORT. BETA testing will require installation of a COBB AccessPORT on your 2006-2009 Honda Civic Si, frequent updates to AccessPORT firmware and maps, daily feedback regarding performance of revisions and the emailing of datalogs upon request (recorded via the onboard datalogging capability of the AccessPORT) throughout the entire BETA period. Additional requirements and details will be provided upon being approved for BETA testing.

Extensive BETA testing will be performed for this application to ensure performance and functionality goals are met. The duration of the BETA testing period is unspecified at this time. We are currently looking for candidates with the following modifications:

1. Stock configuration
2. AEM CAI only
3. AEM SRI only
4. DC Sports header and exhaust only
5. AEM CAI and DC Sports header and exhaust
6. AEM SRI and DC Sports header and exhaust

Candidates approved for BETA testing will receive a 40% discount off the MSRP of the AccessPORT. At the end of the BETA testing period, BETA testers will be given the option of keeping the AccessPORT at no additional expense, or returning the AccessPORT for a full refund within 14 days after the end of the BETA testing.

If you are willing to commit to the requirements of this BETA test and your vehicle conforms to one of the six modification configurations listed above, please email the following information to beta.honda@cobbtuning.com:

1. Full name
2. Billing address
3. Telephone number
4. Email address
5. Honda Forum Affiliation (i.e.-8thCivic, Honda-Tech, etc.)
6. Honda Forum Username
7. Civic Si model year and Coupe/Sedan
8. Which of the 6 modification configurations your Honda Civic Si is currently in
9. The fuel octane that you typically use
10. ALL other modifications that may or may not affect performance

Please note that we will be screening all BETA test applicants. Not all applicants will be accepted. Depending on the number of requests we receive, we may not be able to respond to every submission.

Gary Sheehan

What about people who match a similar configuration? IE.... Injen CAI/DC RH/Exhaust? What makes the intake so special?

For control purposes.

If the Injen was say on average 0.5hp more powerful than the AEM CAI, the results would be skewed.

Because the AEM has airflow vanes for very accurate air/fuel ratio input.

But probably, because the test car had a similar setup.

You should have all the facts before posting erroneous info.

The only AEM intake to offer this is the units marketed for the 2007 and newer vehicle which wasn't release until early 2008. There are a lot of 2006 model units floating around.

That makes sense, but why in the world can't they have a 7th category for people with the Injen? It's quite a popular intake and i'm certainly not going to buy an AEM just so I can run the AccessPort. I sure hope they're planning on releasing maps for the injen.

Because it's BETA testing. You expect them to test every combination? Most likely they are testing the most popular set ups (based on sales.)

I'm obviously not so naive that i don't know about the older model AEM intakes my friend. Sorry, maybe THEY should have been more specific, since there are 2 models. You know?

lots of cars with dbw have had tuning for a long time already, cobb isnt the only company out there, and civics are not the only cars with dbw, our ucu is our tuning prob , not the dbw...

Injen isn't popular? have you looked at the 200whp+ thread on 8thcivic.com?

i know that. at least cobb is publicly going about this.
hondata has been in the shadows about the whole thing. as far as i know they only made one public post stating that they are working on something for our 8th gens. i sorta have a feeling that cobb is gonna come out with something before hondata, but who knows. maybe we should make a poll.
is cobb going to finish first or is hondata? lol

I'd consider this on my stock 08' however I am not willing to risk my warranty just to have my car be a guinea pig. Sounds like it could be fun though.
