How to change SIDEMARKER bulbs???
hi there just wondering for those of you who have installed sidemarkers on their DC or any other cars or cars with already intalled sidemarkers, how do you exactly change the bulb??
To make the long story short, I just installed one on my car and can't seem to decide whether if I should put some sealant to prevent water from sipping in (mind you i already put 5 coats of paint around the exposed metal). But thoughts came up in mind like how the hell am I suppose to change the bulb in the future if i sealed it?? If i tried to pry it with screw driver, theres a huge chance i'll dig deep in to the paint and chip the outer edge of the sidemarker...if i tried to remove the fender liner and reach it from underneath, theres just not enough space for your arm to fit and slide in ..
So is removing the entire fender is the only choice to go (which is too much work..removing the front bumper and the sideskirts)??? because if it is i'll just go ahead and glue and seal it shut to the fender... PLEASE HELPPP!
thank you.

If the hole in the fender is the correct size and shape, the little metal tab on the sidemarker housing will hold it in place. To remove, stick a flat screwdriver through the slot at the end of the housing to push the tab, and pull out on the housing. No problem. If you're careful you will not damage the fender in any way. You can always put a piece of tape on the fender if you're nervous about it.
If the hole is not the proper size/shape and the sidemarker won't stay tight to the fender, then you could glue it in place, and then just partially remove the fender liner to change the bulb.
Get this, though, my current OEM sidemarker bulbs have probably been on my car 5-6+ years and they're still working. You very rarely ever have to change them.

thanks for the reply...
yes the hole in the fender is perfect its almost like a factory hole. But the problem is, my sidemarker is tightly flushed in the fender (which I think is good)...like theres no gap at all for even a needle to slide in (Its almost as if i just glued it in...it doesnt even wiggle..its sturdy as a rock). So if I use the flat screwdriver, there is no way I wouldn't dig in thru the paint and chip the edge of the marker...
I also tried to partially remove the fender liner but there is just not enough space for my arm to slide in (mind you my arm is skinny)...do u have any tips for me on this one?
Since u mentioned about u not changing the bulbs for years...I guess i dont have to worry about it then..
..but how did u wire up yours though?? did u have it on when the parking lights are on or does it just blink when u use the signal?
PS: I installed the DC5 oem marker...my clip is not actually made out of metal but plastic which is connected to the main body of the marker...
thank you.
