my vtech the other day all of a sudden just completley lost its power...it normally pulls like a biotch but now its super slow...when the motor gets around 5k the motor starts screaming (louder than normal) but there is not power ? i dont understand what it could be. if anyone has or has had this prob. please let me know asap.

 

I'll just say real quick that my engine has been "screaming", and so I haven't been driving it until I take it to the dealer. There's no CEL, but it definitely sounds weird.

Is it a whining sort of sound? And does it progress through the entire RPM range?

Also, you still under warranty?

 

yeah , i have no cel either? wierd? because if there was something wrong you would think it would come on...and yeah i have the reflash so it should kick in earlier than normal but its not and its really sluggish through the entire rpm range. ive talked to alot of honda guys in the area and they all said they have no idea what it could be

 

check your oil level?

 

yeah its at the perfect level...heres the story..i was driving the other day i went from 1st through 3rd in vtec fine..i put it into 4th and vtec engaged at like 4500 rpms and my motor got like twice as loud and i lost all of my power..

 

BMWs don't have VTEC. =P (Except for that one.)

Vtec should kick in at about, 6.2k, not 5k. Do you have a reflash?

Hows your clutch?

Any mods?

I suggest some day, after a cold start, just let it sit and idle for about 10-15 mins. See if that fixes it.

 

does your motor only get louder in vtec?

 

yeah i have the reflash..intake, header, exhaust so yeah it does engage earlier than normal..my clutch is normal

 

yeah it sounds normal on the low cam ..the high cam is wen it gets super loud

 

pull of your vtec solenoid and see if your screen is clogged

 

I thought this was another spammer thread or a prank.
Try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes then let it idle for 10-15 minutes. A simple reboot does wonders.

 

yeah thats what some other people have told me..do you know where its located on the car off hand?

 

ive actually tried that twice now..it didnt work either..it just rebooted everything else in the car

 

its on the tranny side of the motor connected to the head

 

hmm i havent seen a vtec solenoid in that area

 

standard vtec engages at 5800. not 6200.

he stated he has a reflash

 

i found out its on the left side of the motor...i havent pulled it out and cleaned it yet ..i think tomorrow i will try..i did put a new intake on like 2 days before all of this happend..im wondering if it might have thrown off the A/F?

i doubt this would have happened to a new car, but maybe your cat is blown.
cuz it happened on my friend's em1 and all he had was a cai and his vtec sounded like his motor was built but when vtec engaged it actually went slower.

 

i have no cat on my car..i have the dc race header

 

i've heard of the flex pipe collapsing and clogging the piping on dc headers. have you checked for that?

 

well i had my headers off the other day and they seemed fine.ive only had them for like 5 months now so i cant see anything going wrong with them really

 

Headers? Maybe that is the problem your car should only have one header.
