Default Question about Toda Cams/Valve Springs

Like everyone, I'm eagerly anticipating the release of the Hondata ecu with its claimed S2K numbers and its 9k redline. But I wandted to look into some aftermarket valve springs to insure that nothing is going to go wrong when I rev to 9K. If I get the Toda Cams, and the Toda Valve Springs to go with them, will these valve springs be stiff enough to protect me during high RPM use?

Toda cams and valve springs should be enough to handle 9K RPM reliably.

The increased RPM's are only for a modified or light weight valve train. The red-line the factory gave you is designed to keep your engine efficient and within specs when operating over a long period of time. If you install a cam/spring/retainer setup that will withstand high RPM use over a long period of time... then you can up the Red line and fuel cut off to allow the engine to utilize its new high rev components. I would not get the Hondata unless I already had high-lift cams, and I would not up the redline to 9k until the valve train could withstand it. Good stuff!

Toda springs will be perfectly suited to the Toda cams, and should be lighter than the factory springs. Titanium retainers are not expensive and Toda will probably make a set with the springs. If TODA doesn't make any, Portflow will make good ones and so will Ferrea. Even custom made retainers are not that expensive.

You would then have the mechanical ability to rev higher, but that doesn't mean your intake manifold/throttle body and header can flow well enough at higher speeds, no point in revving much higher.

TODA is the only company I know of that has enough experience and development time with the K20s to know how well the manifolds and ports flow. A good intake, header, and exhaust would be necessary then if you don't already have those.
