Wheel Balance Problem-HELP ME
yes those sticky weights are put in their to balance the wheel..depending on the type of wheels they will usually use the clip on type for the inner edge and stick on weight on the inner outside wedge or clip for both sides...
did the sticky residue look dirty or was it still white showing? if it was dirty then the weights COULD of came off by themselves dude to whoever put those on didnt stick them on all the way or if it was still clean/white then the dealership MAY of pryed them off to get u to go back
any tire shop can rebalance ur tires again no problem..take a look at ur tires, are they wearing evenly? if they are NOT wearing evenly then that will cause vibration
i had a car that came into my work a couple days ago with 20k miles on it and the guy was complaining about vibration at 60-70mph and my service guy wanted me to balance all tires..as i pulled the tires i could see clearly that all the inner edges of the tires were all jacked up, cup, camber, wires showing etc...i told them rite there they needed new tires but the old guy didnt wanna buy new tires so i was told to just try and rebalance them anyways..well dude to the jacked up tires, i couldnt even balance 1 tire cuz it was asking for 6+oz of weights..so he needed new tires + alignment

as EKB said, yes any tire place can take care of rebalancing your tires for you. I would really hope that a dealereship wouldnt do something like what you are describing, but i know it does happen.
also, just so you know, a really bad tire inbalance can cause a pull. and honda does recommend an alignment every 15k or 1 year. i dont know if thats why they were recommending doing it, or were just saying.
hope it all works out for ya!
