How to break into 12's with B18C1 CRX?
I recently took my rebuilt B18C1 CRX to the track and netted these results:
I1: 1.695
I2: 5.263
I3: 8.246
MPH (I3): 82.487
I4: 10.814
E.T. 13.038
MPH: 100.843
The chassis is a 89 Honda CRX DX almost at it's full weight. Interior is all there minus the rear cargo cover. The car was ran with full exhaust (2.25" blox racing catback) and a standard 3" short ram air intake. This pass was of course with slicks (22x8x13 on bogarts) with 14" HX wheels in the rear. Currently still running stock shocks with generic slip-on coilovers. It was tuned the same day prior to hitting the track and put down 188 whp & 131 wtq SAE corrected.
My question is how can I break into the 12's without any additional power adders? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You are going to want to run a 16-20" extention from the header.. Running open header with the intake in the engine bay will cause air intake contamination..... Exhaust fumes will get sucked back into the engine with just an open header do to where the header ends.
Thanks for the input guys. I was considering removing my passenger side headlight and running an extension 3" straight intake pipe with a velocity stack at the end. If I do this, do I still have to run the 16-20" header extension pipe? I want to run open header with the headlight removed but I'm concerned that it may change the overall tune of my car. The car was tuned with full exhaust and short ram intake. What do you think? Thanks.

i'd take put the headlight extension with the velocity stack, open header with extension and a retune... when you get it tuned with the stack put a fan infront of the car to help simulate air being blown into it while driving... also some good suspension and gut the thing and i would guarantee a 12 sec pass as long as you are getting the same 60' and shifting it the same. and once you do that, put a 75 shot on it and shoot for 11's...
I'm running OEM stock 94-01 GSR shocks with no name brand slip-on coilovers. I was launching at 8,000 rpm. The car feels really unstable at high speeds which is probably due to the stock shock setup. I plan on throwing a set of omni or blox drag coilovers for the track and getting an alignment. I'm going to track the car again and test it with open header, remove the entire exhaust system including test pipe, install extension pipe with v-stack and remove headlight, and remove the passenger side seat. Perhaps turning the fuel pressure up between 5-6 psi will play it safe until the next time I tune. Wish me luck. I'll be back with hopefully a 12 second pass. Thanks guys.
lower the launch RPMS and slip the clutch a little more. Also add a real intake, not a short ram, get a cold air, that right there wil put you into the 12s most likely
Yea, that's what I was thinking. I thought my trap should be much higher. I'm running a GSR open-diff hydro tranny if that matters. It might be the combination of weight and tranny combo that led to a lower mph. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.
I'm pretty happy with the results, considering there is more room for improvement. I just thought I'd get some input from you guys on how to break into the 12's with what I already have.
