Default Turbo S2000 Ign. Problems. AEM EMS, etc.

Hey everybody Im goin through some real headaches with my s2k I resorted to creating an account so I can maybe get some help from the brainiacs out there...so heres my situation.

Boosted 00` Honda S2000
AEM EMS
Precision 880's
GM 3 Bar
Stock Ignition, Stock head.

Now the car was running fine for the longest time, on the same tuned map, until my friend was driving the car recently, it overheated and started shutting off. I been meaning to upgrade the headgasket so I figured now was the time.

So anyways, the car was runnin on 3 cylinders before I took the head off. Sent the head to the machine shop, and did a couple minor things while I was waiting (battery relocated, turbo timer, new ragtop).

Well I put everything back together, plugged everything in, and the car started, but still running on 3 cylinders. I pull plug#1 out with the car running, nothing changes. OK, cyl. #1 is dead I thought. So I switch #3 and #1's coil pack, same thing, no cyl. #1.

Thats when things got ookie. I put the packs back where they came from, tried to start the car again, it would not start. Hooked up jumper cables, still wouldnt start.

Keep in mind that it DID START AND RAN UNTIL I TURNED IT OFF. Then wouldnt start back up again. The harness is connected, the grounds connected, timing is 100# tdc, and I have fuel. I have ZERO SPARK now.

I pulled the plugs out with the coil pack to watch if it sparks, nothing on any cylinder. The IGN COIL fuse is good and its getting power. The AEM EMS says coil's 1-4 are turning ON. Stat Sync'd ON.

So Im a little lost I have to admit, Im stumped...

What else could be at fault between the ECU and the coil packs to prevent spark?

Do you have a resistor box with those?

that has nothing to do with his problem with that engine...

i ran aem ems for 2.5 yrs...i had distributor system not cop ignition...i was constantly fighting with the ems to make it run correctly...i sent the aem back several times...i would see if a output on the box is fried...they do that, mine twice.

the AEM box may be fried..

How about the ground on the back of the head, is that properly back on .

And spoolie, i was asking if he had a resistor box with them because if he didnt he could have fried something not having it.

Yes Im running a resistor box, and the ground on the back of the head is secure.

I recently put the battery in the rear of the car, upped the feed to 2guage wire, car still acts a lil funny tryin to start, tacho fades out and stuff. Got the battery charging now, will update later.

True dat, that AEM needs as much power as it can possibly get.

yeah if you don't have good voltage the AEM won't be happy. make sure the ground you're using in the trunk is solid. scrape down to bare metal to make a good contact.

So get a load of this.

Manually configured the outputs on my aem ems. Coil by coil. Then busted out the voltmeter.

Next I check if Im getting the 5 volt signal from the ecu to the pack. Every plug recieves 5 volts, no spark to the plug EXCEPT cylinder #4. So basically 3 coil packs took a **** at once.

Tried and checked all combinations and the final result is that I have ONE good coil pack after all this, and Im about to buy a set off ebay...

Anyone ever heard of some **** like this???

I've had coil drivers go out on my AEM in my civic. But it was a common issue at the time with that box.
