Default Lowering seats in a 2002 Civic EX Coupe

Hey,

I have a 2002 civic and id like to lower the stock seats, or if I have to then buy new seats that are lower and more comfortable ( I have back problems). See i'm about 6'3" and this gen of civic had a ride thats already to high ( compared to my old 99) so add that to my height and well I just feel sort of akward driving my car. I just want to have a lower more laid back seating position so I dont feel like im in the spotlight when driving.

To achieve this can I do something minor to my brackets, or would new seats have to be purchased? Thanks for any advice much appreciated.

You would be better off (safety wise) just getting an aftermarket seat on some low-riding seat rails.

Thank you for the response. Is there a specific way to replace my current rails with ow riding ones...or will I need a shop to do this for me?

Well, since your current rails are built-in to the seat, you're pretty much out of luck for a safe solution there (as I posted earlier). Not to mention the fact that the bottom cushion of your seat, is much taller than that of an aftermarket seat, making clearance issues with the floor pan a problem.

Homeboy at Autobacs told me id have to have a whelder make new brackets for my car in order to fit an aftermarket seat...is this true? He said it would cost like 80 bones per seat.

That is incorrect. Many seat manufacturers produce rails for the Civic. (ex. Cobra)

Yeah, he was probabaly just telling me that so I would buy their seats ( which probably dont come with rails). I figure as much- autobacs seems more like a place for kids to play rather than a serious auto store. Anyways, do you have any recommendations for aftermarket seats ( along with rails and sliders) that are both lower and more comfortable than the stock ones?
