Default buring 3 quarts of oil (ANY CLUES)

every 2k miles i have to fill up on oil now. i just now noticed this happend ever since i misshifted but 2 months ago. i was just wondering if it was just rings i would need to replace? my motor still runs fine and everything just burn alot of oil when i get on it. but i dont seem to see oil from the exhuast or smell it. no leaks from the oil filter ethier. i noticed that my oil pan has a very small leak but not enough to make it lose 3 quarts of oil every 2k miles

compression or leak down will tell you for sure. leak down would be the best.

also what kind of oil and weight are you using? I know mobil 1 burns quickly when I use it and I'm just k20a3 with bolt ons.

not at the rate he is burning. 3 quarts every 2k miles is a lot. that means he is going through 7.5 quarts of oil every 5k miles. An oil change only goes through 5 quarts.

3 quarts every 2k miles? I find that hard to believe especially with not having leaks. Are you ripping through gears and beating the hell out of your car from a cold start up? That is a tremendous amount of oil. I would suggest taking that thousand dollars and going to the dealership to see what they find. GL

your car is in limp mode. go to autozone or some place similar and they will scan it for free.

Haha^^ So, I'm really curious to see how this is possible. I drive my car pretty hard but the most I've ever burned between an oil change is maybe a half quart. Do you guys ever shift? Or maybe you just drive in 2nd or 3rd the whole time just in case someone rolls up on you, you can just be ready to go lol. Seriously though, I'm curious.

Well, I know this is not going to help but when I was using mobil 1 in my ep I normally burn about 1 quart at 5k Miles...Then changed to Royal Purple 5w30 and so far so good no more oil burning...It stays full the day it goes in and the day it goes out for oil change.

I bet it's better than paying/performing for more work on the car later on down the road due to cheap crappy oils not protecting the motor enough.

honda engines last 200k+ miles on dino oil, so your argument is kind of null.
